eBay watch: 1970s Philips 22 GF 623 portable stereo record player

Philips

Once again, a portable turntable catches our eye, this time the Philips 22 GF 623 portable stereo record player.

Dating back to the 1970s (you might have guessed that), this is a three-speed player that's both portable and stylish, not least when the whole thing packs away into a cool orange 'briefcase'. See the listings for lots of pictures of that.

But once unpacked, this battery/mains player will play your 7 and 12-inch vinyl in glorious stereo. Well, stereo – not sure about glorious from an old portable player! Seller does sat 'very good sound though. Condition is 'very good', with just a few age scratches and of course, it's in working order. £24 is the current bid price.

eBay watch: 1970s Philips 5120 portable record player – mint and boxed

Philips

It's the format they've been trying to kill off for decades. Yet despite that, there's a lot of us out there who still love vinyl. So this Philips 5120 portable record player is well worth a look.

It's not a new player, it's from the 1970s. But it is 'new' old stock, sold with the original box and instructions, as well as being in 'mint' condition. Not a bad looking player too, not least in that very '70s orange.

Powered by mains and batteries, it plays 33 and 45rpm records in 7 or 12-inch size and has that clear lid finishing things off. Right now it's at £1.60 with no reserve.

eBay watch: 1950s Louis Kalff for Philips desk lamp

Kal

Want something a little different for your sideboard or desk? This Louis Kalff for Philips desk lamp might fit the bill.

Dating back to the 1950s, it's a design reminiscent of that optimistic era, but with a touch of modernism thrown in for good measure. The lampshade is made of sheet metal lacquered black, while the stem is essentially a brass rod. The base is made of cast iron with a sheet metal cover lacquered black and with the original switch still in place.

Coming up to 60 years old, so not in perfect condition – age-related scratches and marks are on the black lacquer work. But at just £10.50 right now, it doesn't look like a huge issue.

eBay watch: Philips Gadabout 1950s motorised bicycle

Gad

The more I see these engine-clad vintage bikes, the more I like them. All the looks of a vintage cycle with the bonus of not having to pedal uphill. What's not to like? Very little when it comes to this Philips Gadabout motorised bicycle.

It actually dates back to 1956 and comes with a 50cc engine, good enough to get you around your local area at a decent speed. It does need some work, you'll need a couple of tyres and lights to get through the MOT. But according to the seller, the bike has been 'dry stored' for the last 20 years and is in 'good running order', so nothing major to worry about.

£150 is the current price.
