Cath Kidston's clothing for Spring Summer 2011 features an array of vintage inspired pieces as ever, but this year they have really excelled with their dresses. Their fanciful, nostalgic fabrics were made for 1940s-style tea dresses and there are several available in the collection. 

The Wispy Floral Tea Dress is in a vintage-style small floral print with contrast black collar & piping detail on the pockets and is made of crepe material to give an authentic 40s look.

Tea dresses in a classic forties and fifties style are becoming increasingly common on the high street at the moment, allowing designers to push the style further than block colours and understated prints. While that approach can be hit and miss for retro lovers, this Conversation Dress by Miss Selfridge gets it spot on.

The structure is chic and timeless, with a sailor-style collar adding some fifties appeal to a late-forties dress shape. With a delicate butterfly print throughout, monochrome colouring is softened and feminine thanks to the use of cream instead of bright white.
