George Harrison Stamp Out The Beatles sweatshirt

Stampout

Want to wear an authentic bit of 60s clobber? You can (and for not much cash) with the Stamp Out The Beatles sweatshirt.

George Harrison was pictured in one in 1967, so you could say it’s Beatles’ approved (although this almost certainly has no official licensing). It was actually created by an anti-Beatles group in Detroit, who presented to GH, who subsequently wore it, passing a quip about the Fab Four planning to stamp out Detroit.

Anyway, if you want one, Verona T-Shirts are selling them on just about every size and colour you can think of on eBay. The price? £19.99.

The Happening Dress by Ossie Clark

Ossie_clark

I’ll own up and let you know that I wasn’t aware that British fashion royalty, Ossie Clark‘s label had continued after the great man’s passing. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon their latest collection, and found that it has lost none of what made the man’s designs great.

Clark’s speciality was flowing, flattering pieces for women of all ages, shapes and sizes. His mastery in cutting made his clothing some of the best made in the history of clothes design in this country. This Happening dress retains the fairytale flow of his original designs, and a fantastic print to boot.

It’s available online from My Wardrobe for £995.

American Retro Silk Floral Tunic Dress

Arsilktunic

Contrary to its name, many of the clothes in the current collection by the brand American Retro are disappointingly modern looking. One exception is this Silk Floral Print Tunic.

It is mini in length but with long sleeves and a fold-down collar that make it a more modest design. The print is a bold purple flower, the colour of which is described as “prune” set against a 60s-style swirl in black and white.

It costs £220 and is available in UK sizes 6 to 12 from ASOS.

Nanette Lepore Violet Eyes coat

Nanette_lepore

Now that we’ve entered fashion’s Autumn/Winter season, coats and jackets are available everywhere, but that doesn’t always guarantee you’ll find something worth buying. If you’re on the hunt for something a little more unusual than most, this Nanette Lepore Violet Eyes coat is a great choice.

In a brocade fabric, both the print and shape make this a great retro piece. Combining a muted mix of paisleys and florals on a sheen brocade, the shape is kept simple with a dolly style A-line and assymetrical fastening. The single button, collar shape and darts at the bust create a great quality shape too.

It’s available online from Blue Fly for $414.

Les Cakes de Bertrand Bags and Purses

Cakesdebertrand

Les Cakes de Bertrand started out as a cake stall in a French marketplace, which soon evolved into a cake and confectionery shop. Not an unusual story so far, but then somehow the company has made the leap into accessories.

A strange business move, but one we’re glad they made judging by their delightful collection of bags and purses. The bags and purses (like the chocolate bars before them) are decorated with charming pictures taken from vintage postcards. They are made from vintage looking materials with flock, lace and damask patterns.

If you happen to be in Paris, you can visit Les Cakes de Bertrand shop, otherwise Collard Mason has a small selection of their wares available to buy online including wash bags, purses and clutches. Further information on the shop and the full accessories range can be found on Les Cakes de Bertrand website.

Vintage inspired drop waist dress from Miss Selfridge

Miss_selfridge_dress

For a more simple, day dress look than the Madonna inspired Urban Outfitters dress, this little retro piece from Miss Selfridge is much more appealing. With a simple shift shape, and inspiration from a few decades, it’s a mishmash of styles that works well.

Taking the loose shift, drop waist and pleated skirt of the 20s and 30s, the dress adds some texture and frill with the lace trims. With a high collar and monochrome detailing, it’s a simple, stylish daywear look that’s versatile and very vintage inspired.

It’s available from Miss Selfridge for £40.
