Kat Boon 70s fabric bags

Katboon
Not the first time that we’ve seen vintage fabrics recycled into stylish modern-day items, but newcomer Kat Boon has some 70s vintage fabric bags that are well worth a look.

This long bag is made from an original 70s print on cotton in a rare pink and brown colour way. It is lined with dupion silk in fudge with dark brown fine leather handles and has a magnetic fastener, co-ordinating inside pocket and matching brooch / bag decoration.

You can pick it up for £50 inc P&P. And check out the website for many more bags, home furnishings and fashion items in a similar style.

Miss Selfridge Hexagon Dress

Hexagondress
The good news for all of us who like vintage style fashion is that the new clothes on the high street still have a great retro feel. If you are bored with the 60s style cocktail dresses, how about going for this Hexagon Dress from Miss Selfridge which has a late 60s early 70s boho look.

This black komono sleeve dress with sash tie at the waist and multi-coloured hexagon print pattern in 100% silk has more of a rock chick vibe, and looser feel from some of the more formal dresses that have been around.

At only £45 for real silk it seems like a good deal, and it does feel great to get something from the new collections rather than the end of sale dregs.

Suitcase Bag – made from a recycled vintage suit

Suitbag
If you’re looking for a novelty bag with a bit of a past, check out the Suitcase Bag.

It’s the work of designer Edson Raup, who uses suits picked up from charity shops in London to create hardwearing unisex bags. And just to add to your eco credentials, the adjustable carry strap is made from a car strap. The bag also features two front pockets, a zipped pocket to keep your valuables safe and a bright cerise silk lining.

Two sizes available – medium and large – retailing for £50 and £65 respectively.

Carlo Gruber Snow Paradise Boot

Paradiseboot
You may have seen the Carlo Gruber ski sweater we featured last month, well here is something for the girls from the same range.

If retro ski wear is your thing, then these Adidas Carlo Gruber Paradise Boots could make you stand out on the piste. Even if you don’t make it to a ski resort these boots will still be just the thing if we get any snow this winter.

This shoe has been reintroduced and reinterpreted from the mid-80s original. It has a nylon upper with faux-fur lining and the distinctive colours of the original. Legacy (white with multi-coloured stripes) or maroon.

They are even in the sale on the Adidas site, so you can get yourself a pair for £46 reduced from £65.

Get a retro registry office look

Retro_registry

Nice article over at the Bridalwave website for anyone looking for a retro look for a registry office wedding – but be prepared, it doesn’t come cheap!

The dress isn’t actually a wedding dress, but this Moschino Jacquard Cocktail Dress should provide just as much impact. it retails for £805. The 60s vibe is matched by these Giuseppe Zanotti’s ivory button pumps, retailing for $450 at Saks Fifth Avenue and a sparkly diamante headband, which is a more affordable £20 at Monsoon. The flowers can be picked up locally.

Now you’re all set for that proposal!
