B&Q's Petra retro garden furniture

It's worth checking out B&Q right now - it has some great retro-inspired design, although (sadly) most of it isn't available to order online. Like this Petra retro garden furniture.

If Moonbase Alpha in Space 1999 had the need for garden furniture, chances are that it would look something like that this. Rectangular in shape with rounded edges and a mesh detailing on both the table and seating.

It's made of aluminium, so should be good for leaving out in the worst conditions - although that might not make for the most comfortable of seating. Pop into your local store, they should be in stock, with a table and two benches retailing for around £500.

Tinsley Cooling Towers plate - Sheffield landmark immortalised in china

If you've ever driven into Sheffield from the M1, you'll be familiar with the Tinsley Cooling Towers - a piece of industrial landscape that's become one of the city's most famous landmarks. For now at least.

You see, the owners want to demolish them, while the good guys (headed up by Go, supported by Channel 4) want to turn it into an open art space. Demolition is certainly looking the most likely option, so to win hearts and minds, Go is opening a shop for Cooling Towers-related merchandise.

Dwell's walnut and chrome sideboard

If paying £1500+ for a Merrow Associates sideboard is a little hard to swallow, you could get the look on a budget with this walnut and chrome sideboard from Dwell.

Two large doors cover the large side storage areas, with three drawers in the centre for your bits and pieces - with the 160cm unit supported by the two chrome legs.

Vintage Smiths Wall Clocks

You can’t beat a statement timepiece for adding a touch of class to your home, whether it is in the lounge, kitchen or hallway. Pedlars have just acquired a stock of Vintage Smiths Wall Clocks which would suit this purpose nicely.

Amongst the collection are some huge factory clocks (measuring an immense 75cm), as well as some smaller industrial and domestic clocks dating from 1930s to the 1970s.
