Girard Coffee Table for Knoll

Very different from the his La Fonda coffee table that we featured earlier in the year, Alexander Girard also designed a coffee table for Knoll.

This one dates back to 1948 and has a walnut veneer tabletop and an organic shape with one straight and one asymmetrical side. It can be positioned with either the straight or the asymmetrical edge facing the seating area, giving a large usable surface area without taking up too much floor space.

It is still produced by Knoll in line with the original specifications and can be ordered from Desigin Within Reach for $745 (approximately £370).
