Period Rooms at the Geffrye Museum, London
Instead of the V&A and the Design Museum, next time you are looking for an afternoon of culture in London give the Geffrye Musem a try, in particular its Period Rooms.
The Geffrye Museum's collections comprise furnishings, pictures and ornaments reflecting the history of the urban middle class English home over the past 400 years. Their permanent collection includes the Period Rooms, eleven sets that reflect the changing tastes and styles from 1630 to present day. Of course, the two rooms that interest us most are the 1935 and 1965 Living Rooms – the latter I’d happily live in given the chance.
Details of directions and opening times are on the Geffrye Museum website, as well as virtual tours for anyone unable to visit in person.
