You might think retro and Back To The Future when you see this Electric DeLorean DMCEV, but as the name suggests, this is a very modern remake of an iconic car.
Yes, an electric DeLorean. brought to you by the DeLorean Motor Company in association with Epic EV, packing an AC induction liquid-cooled electric motor that offers 260 horsepower and a top speed of 125mph. It’ll also do 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. It'll take just over three hours for a full charge, giving you around 100 miles from that charge.
Not just the motor that's modern either, Open those gull wing doors and get beyond that super-retro exterior and you'll find the likes of a built-in GPS display and an iPhone/iPod dock, mixing it with a full leather look interior. Yes, you get the retro, but the makers haven't forgotten that you're in 2011.
Actually, you'll be beyond 2011 when you actually get one – and that's if you can afford one. The price is a jaw-dropping £70,000, with pre-orders now being taken. On the plus side, it'll cost you about 1p per mile to actually run it.
