Telephones benches are the new sideboards. Having fallen out of fashion, they are now on the brink of a comeback – and at the top end of the scale is Jens Risom's T621 Bench.

The T621 was designed back in 1955, so dates from around the time that telephone benches were popular in middle class homes. Take away the cushion and the piece can be a table, but with the addition of the cushion, it is a very useful seat and table in one. The bench is available in a choice of oak or walnut and in two sizes.  According to the options chosen, prices range from £1,380 to £1,860 – not cheap, plus those prices are for using your own material for the upholstery. But for that price, you do get a gorgeous piece of furniture.
