We have featured a few vintage VW camper van hire companies in the past – but all have been based in the south of England. Well, Morecambe and Wize offers an alternative – operating out of the north.
As the name suggests, Morecambe and Wize operates out of Morecambe (rapidly becoming retro central), offering the hire of a fully-modernised 1972 classic VW Devon Moonraker camper van for use around Morecambe, the Lake District, up into Scotland or indeed anywhere you like – there’s on mileage limit.
The van itself is equipped with the original Devon interior and pop-up canvas, along with with original cabinets, housing a gas cooker, water container; sink with tap and a retro coolbox. It offers sleeping room for five (two adults, three kids) and as a concession to the modern era, a CD player with iPod attachment.
Prices vary according to time booked and season, with weekend hire starting at £275, week bookings from £450.
