Brick

If you like the idea of wandering about town like an '80s yuppie, you might want to invest in The Brick by Binatone.

It's a modern-day reworking of the '80s brick phone, with the look of the era, but the functionality of later times. Use it as a mobile on its own by slipping in a SIM card or use it with your modern-day phone as a Bluetooth extension with access to your contacts, music and call log. Works both ways.

It works alongside Apple or Android smartphones as a secondary handset and also offers up to 14 hours talk time (plus one month standby), as well as a 'loud' speaker, a micro-SD slot, retro ringtones and games, including Snake. It even doubles up as a torch if you find yourself in a dark place.

The monochrome Brick will be available for a limited time only from Carphone Warehouse from November, priced at £49.99.
