Lesley barnes Node rug

It's a contemporary design but this NODE rug by Lesley Barnes for the Design Museum shop has a great folk art feel.

The rug has a striking, graphic design showing stylised birds against a dark ground. If you're thinking it almost looks too good to walk on, you're not the only one: it comes with a wooden dowel so it can be displayed on wall easily (and as shown below).

Lesley Barnes is a Glasgow-based animator and illustrator and this rug has been handmade as part of a collaboration with Node – a non-profit fair trade organisation working with those in Nepal – and the Design Museum. Several designers have been asked to turn their hand to rugs, with just ten of each style produced (those with good memories may remember a Sanna Annukka design for the project we featured last year)

It's priced at £950.
