Yes, Swoon has teamed up with designer Michelle Mason and Transport for London to rework some of their midcentury designs. Not, as you might think, based on the cloths used on public transport. These upholstery designs from Michelle Mason are based on the Edwardian tile configurations (and ‘lost art’) of London’s original tube lines.
That’s something you’ll be able to drop in conversation, should anyone ask where those bold colours come from. If your friends want one too they might well be out of luck as the Karla armchair, Milly chair, Mimi armchair and stool and the Felix are all being produced in very limited numbers. No more than 11 of any design and in a couple of cases, far fewer.
They are available now if you like the the look of any of the pieces, with prices at £449 for the Karla, £329 for the Milly chair, £429 for the Mimi, £349 for the Mimi stool and £449 for the Felix armchair.
