Plenty out there, and this isn’t the cheapest. But the Magda 1950s-style furniture range at Tikamoon has a very strong look.

The entire range is said to be inspired by 1950s Scandinavian design, but it should have wider appeal than that. This range would sit effortlessly in pretty much any home, whether that’s retro or not. But if you are going for a midcentury modern vibe in your home, this will certainly be right up your street.

The furniture is made of teak with a fairly dark stain, which is probably the first thing that caught my eye. Just after that were the tapered legs, with the addition of the metal tips. Always a plus point for me.

Beyond that, everything is minimal and functional, but also with everything built for a purpose. Plenty of storage options and no unnecessary decoration or colour. It’s a timeless look. Which is why it would work in so many different spaces.

As for the range, that includes a teak sideboard (at the top of the page) which also seems to double up as an office cabinet. Not that it would work for regular home workers, but for the occasional correspondence, it will be just fine.

A more traditional sideboard, too, as well as a TV/media unit and two different sets of drawers. That’s pretty much it, I think at least for now.

Prices are between £799 and £1,749, depending on the piece that catches your eye. Yes, you can get ranges cheaper (see the site archive for various examples), but these pieces look a little bit classier and might be worth the extra expense.
