No, these are not little badges for your coat. This is oversized vintage music pin badge art by Tapedeck Art.
But yes, they are pin badges, Just not the sort you can stick on your jacket. Although they have the same look as a vintage pin badge you might own or you might see in a vintage sale.
The designs are the work of Tapedeck Art, also known as artist Tony Dennis, who was inspired by the Super Size Art project by Morgan Howell, which boosted the size of classic singles, turning them into huge artworks for your wall. You can see the Super Size Art website here, which is well worth a browse.
So is this collection, which follows a similar idea, but instead of vintage vinyl, these are vintage pin badges turned into giant 3D pin badges using a process that took around nine months to perfect.
The badge design was painted from an original vintage badge, then mounted on an aluminium badge before being aged and resin sealed to look just like an actual vintage piece. It can be easily hung on the wall too as it is comes with wall fixings to do just that.
If you are a fan of the bands in question you will probably fall in love with at least some of these. But regardless of fandom, these badges are a talking point and a great feature for any music lover’s wall.
Take your pick from the likes There Jam, The Specials, The Smiths, The Damned, The Clash, David Bowie, Joy Division and many more, but note that they don’t come cheap.
This is ‘proper’ art with a price to match. The finished badges are substantial at around 60 x 60cm and are in limited editions of 10 each. If you want one, they retail for around £550 each.
Note that there are further editions available from directly from the artist too.
