I love it when Lego goes retro. And it doesn’t get much more retro than this 1966 Batman TV Series Batmobile Lego set.

Yes, forgetting all the movies that have appeared in the fairly recent past, Lego has gone back to the 1960s to celebrate the most ‘fun’ version of Batman. The incarnation with Adam West for the small screen.

This is pure nostalgia, as well as a lot of fun (it is Lego, after all) and a lovely thing to have on display when it’s finished. or to play with, should that be your thing.

So what do you get? Well, you don’t get Robin sadly, which is an obvious gap. But you do get Batman himself and a foe to battle with. That’s The Joker if you hadn’t noticed.

Outside of that, it’s all about the car and its accessories. The car is just a joy to behold. At least, it will be when it’s finished. I think this is my favourite Lego set since The Beatles Yellow Submarine kit.

As well as being a mini-replica of that iconic 1960s vehicle, the Batmobile also has an opening trunk containing a Batarang and additional bricks that you can use to customise the car’s bonnet so it appears with or without the stud shooters. The original car didn’t have them, so it’s all about whether you want to be authentic or not.

And when you are finished playing, you can display the car on a rotatable stand. That’s unlikely to happen in our house. The kids will run this one into the ground.

Fancy it? You’ll have to wait a little longer to get one in your home. 26th April 2021 is the release date and the price is £34.99.
