Click Art Print by Tom Shone

-click-art-print-3585-p

Rockett St George are currently selling this great Click Art Print by Tom Shone.

The print simply features a classic camera with the word "Click" beneath it in a suitably retro font, but its simplicity makes it a striking design. I also love the orange colour of the print, which adds to its retro style. The print is sold unframed, but as it measures 70cm by 100cm, it should be easy enough to find a frame for it.

Buy it online from Rockett St George, priced £59

Retro-styled Olympus E-P2 Micro Four Thirds camera gets a new silver finish

E-p2

The original Olympus E-P1 was a retro gem, while its follow-up was more of the same, but with that all-black colourway, didn't quite have the same retro value. Well, that's been put right with the launch of the silver Olympus E-P2 Micro Four Thirds camera.

As you can see, retro is back to the fore, while the camera itself is no different to the second generation model, except it comes in a little cheaper. So you get that Micro Four Thirds technology (all the functionality of a digital SLR, but none of the bulk), along with an optional electronic viewfinder and external microphones, a couple of art filters, an i-Enhance function to improve your finished snaps and the ability to record 7 minutes of AVI format movies in 30fps at HD (1280x720p) resolution.

Coast seaside poster charity auction

Boscombe

Some new takes on the classic twentieth-century travel poster as seven contemporary artists were asked to design a seaside poster to be auctioned off for charity

Several Retro To Go favourites were among the artists asked to depict their favourite resort: Barbara Hulanicki extols the virtues of Brighton, Angie Lewin goes for Salthouse in Norfolk while Wayne and Geraldine Hemingway promote the merits of Boscombe, as pictured above. Although the style of 1930s British travel posters were an obvious starting point,  each artist has tackled the brief in their own distinctive way.

The auction started this morning (Thursday) on Ebay and concludes on the 16 May at 9pm. All proceeds raised go to Marine Conservation Society.

Teenage Kicks limited edition book by Pete McKee

Teenagekicks3

We're big fans of Pete McKee's retro-style illustrations and if you are too, you might want to get your hands on his new Teenage Kicks book.

It's the book version of his most recent exhibition, which celebrates the good, the bad and the ugly influences music has had on fashion. All 22 paintings from the collection are featured, along with additional sketches, all signed by the artist and limited to just 500 copies in total.

Included with the book is a special etched piece of white vinyl featuring the image Booty and the Beat (above). The book and vinyl are packaged in a special 12-inch record sleeve, with Phil Oakey of the Human League doing the foreword. You can see that packaging over the page or head to the artist's site to get one. Price is a not-inconsiderable £120.
