Keep Calm and Carry On wall decals

Keepcalm

Well, it's been available in just about every other shape, size and design for the home (and for your person), so it's inevitable that we would see Keep Calm and Carry On wall decals.

Yes, that classic wartime message (which we first broke online back in 2006 I believe) is now available to directly apply to your walls, sized at 18 inches wide by 31 inches high and available in a range of colours, not just the black pictured here.

All for the same price though – $25.

Wayne Pate’s London print

Pate London

Looking at Wayne Pate's London print, it's hard to believe it's a contemporary design. Its nostalgic view of the capital – complete with black cab, red bus and bowler hat-wearing pigeon – looks like its been inspired by travel and tourism posters from the 50s and 60s.

Such an idyllic view of London could possibly have only been produced by someone living outside of London and indeed Pate is Brooklyn based.

The print costs a very reasonable $35. However, shipping outside of North America adds an additional $23 onto the cost.

Lord Dunsby artwork website gets official launch

Dunsby

You've probably seen the work of Lord Dunsby before – he did the original banner for Retro To Go for a start, so you must have. But now he has an all-new website to show off his works.

A modern artist taking inspiration from the past, Lord Dunsby has work available to browse or buy featuring everything from mods and jazzers through to dolly birds and dandies. You can also check out some of his past freelance callings too, including flyers, album covers and skateboard.

Early days yet, but well worth checking out.

Deborah Azzopardi Pop Art style blinds from Creatively Different Roller Blinds

Azzopardi blind

It's generally hard to get too excited about blinds, a view that Creatively Different Roller Blinds are working hard to rectify. They sell custom-sized blinds that are printed with an image of your choice. Their collection includes many striking images, including this Pop Art-style collection from Deborah Azzopardi.

The image shown is one of five of her colourful images available on the site or, for an even more exclusive blind, you can buy a signed by the artist, limited (and much more expensive) edition of a floral design called Flower Quartet.

There's a price calculator on the website where you can work the cost based on the spec of your window. Just as a guidance, the telephone image above would cost £156 for a 100cm square window and, for comparison, the Flowers Quartet design is £362.

Whether first thing in the morning you can face the sun coming through an image that bright is another thing entirely…

Sir Peter Blake In Conversation at the V&A plus forthcoming Peter Blake (Design) book

Blake_design

If you've ever wanted to meet Sir Peter Blake, you'll have your chance on Friday 11th June 2010 at Sir Peter Blake In Conversation at the V&A.

The event runs for an hour and marks the publication of the Peter Blake (Design) book, which features, as you might guess, the iconic and distinctive designs of Blake throughout his career.

The book is out on 30th June 2010, but we suspect there might be a signed copy or two at the V&A event. Tickets for that are £8 and are available now from here, with the event kicking off at 7pm.

Helsinki afternoon Autumn 1969 print by Inaluxe

Inaluxe

This giclee print, titled Helsinki afternoon Autumn 1969, is another example of some of the great retro-influenced artwork you can find on Etsy. It's the work of Inaluxe, which is the store name of Australian Kristina Sostarko.

Sure to appeal to fans of Orla Kiely's Multi Stem print, the rich colours reinforce the 60s look that's suggested by the title while the retro feel is reinforced through the shape of the trees.

The print is A4 sized and costs US $30 with an additional $8.90 charge for shipping to the UK.
