eBay Watch: Dieter Rams Braun design poster

Dieter_rams_poster
A nice mix of art and design on eBay, this Dieter Rams Braun design poster.

I’m presuming it was printed around 1975, with the poster showing designs made by the designer for Braun from 1956 to 1975. Incredibly stylish poster too, an eight-colour offset print with what you would probably call technical images of the hi-fi equipment designed by the man over this period.

Sized at 60 x 84cm and apparently unused, there are a few of them for sale, each currently selling for around £14. Sounds like an absolute bargain, not to mention a shrewd investment.

Vintage Penguin books – as canvas art

Penguin_canvas
We’ve previously covered classic Penguin book sleeves as both deck chairs and mugs – but not as canvas art.

Yes, you can choose your favourite piece of classic fiction (well, from the selection available), then hang it on the wall. These stretched canvas prints are printed on 100 per cent cotton canvas and come ready to hang. There’s also a choice of picture size too – 700 x 450mm (which is a reasonable size in itself) or the super-large 1400mm x 900mm.,

The smaller image retails for £99, with the larger one available for £299.

Flying Ducks retro screen print

Ducks

Flying ducks – seen adorning many living room walls in the 60s and 70s (most famously in Hilda Ogden’s living room in Coronation Street). And if you want some on your walls, you can ditch the ceramics and get them on this Flying Ducks screen print.

It’s certainly eye-catching, with the white ducks sat on a heavy brown recycled paper that measures 30cm x 52cm. It’s also a hand-pulled screen print, available as a limited edition of just 90,

You can pick it up online for £20 – frame not included.

eBay Watch: 1952 vintage pin-up calendar

Vintage_calendar
Thanks to Kavel for pointing out that 1952 has the same day order as 2008 – so you can actually use this 1952 vintage pin-up calendar next year.

It’s also a great piece of art that’s very ‘now’, with the calendar (designed for the Tri-State Liquor Store) featuring 12 girls, with all drawings by Elvgren. The only damage is a slight tear to the month of June – which isn’t bad for a paper product that’s around 55 years old.

Still some time to go for this auction, the price currently stands at a very low £5.53.

Careless Talk Posters

Fougasse5_2The cartoonist Kenneth Cyril Bird signed himself Fougasse, after an unpredictable type of French landmine. He worked for Punch magazine but he is best known for his propaganda posters produced for the Ministry of Information during the Second World War.

The series of Careless Talk Posters showed Hitler and Goering hiding or in absurd guises to eavesdrop on the public. The posters had a serious message, but typified the British humour in the face of adversity.

Rennies Seaside Modern has several of the original posters in mint condition available for sale, priced £350.

Sir Peter Blake Parade silkscreen print

Blake_childhood
A good art investment and a good way to help a good cause – Sir Peter Blake’s Parade silkscreen print.

It’s a limited edition of 175, made specially for the V&A Museum of Childhood to promote the museum’s re-opening. And all the proceeds from the sale of these prints will go to the Museum’s education and community programmes. And appropriately, the print itself is a marvellously chaotic collage of vintage toys, dolls and puppets.

The image size is 450 mm x 610 mm, the paper size is 604 mm x 780 mm and you can pick one up for £795.
