There is nothing like a splash of orange to give a room an instant 1970s feel, an effect that can achieved with this Cylindrical Orange Vase.
Its bold colour and style mean it look pretty good on its own, so you don’t even have to fill it with flowers. It is made of coloured glass and stands at 32 cm high.
Uniqlo‘s current UT T-shirt range comprises of over 150 designs and they are receiving glwing reviews in the fashion press. Amongst this rather daunting collection are more than 20 designs based on the work of 1980’s artist Keith Haring.
They feature his instantly recognisable crawling and dancing figures, angels and dogs, as well as some featuring photographic images of Haring himself.
The Haring designs feature in both the men’s and women’s ranges and come in a wide variety of colours, so if you are a fan of his work, there is bound to be something that you’ll like. They cost just £12.99 each.
Until 24 May, Harrods hosts a season around the theme of "Design Icons". Iconic products are displayed around the store during this period allowing visitors to see them up close.
They have selected a wide range of designs including the Mathmos Lava Lamp (1963), the Rubik’s Cube (1973), Chanel No 5 (1921), Coca Cola Contour Bottle (1915) and the Togo Chair (1973), as well as some more recent designs such as the ipod.
The displays will be accompanied by a series of lectures, in association with the Design Museum, which include debate on ‘What Makes a Design Iconic" and lectures by design leaders such as Vivienne Westwood and Richard Sapper. Videos of these lectures will be posted on the Design Icons website for anyone unable to attend in person.

RetroSixty specialises in original furniture, art and accessories from the 1950s to 1970s. This includes designs by well-known favourites including Eames, Jacobsen and Paulin, but also some gems by less famous designers. This 1960s Italian Tiled Coffee Table falls into the latter category.
Designed by Denisco of Italy, it has a painted tile top depicting an abstract composition of three figures. It is in excellent condition and being sold for £275.
Italian Bruno Munari was an acclaimed artist, designer, educator and philosopher. He also did research in the subjects of game, infancy and creativity, and undoubtedly this fed into his wonderful children’s books.
Whilst his other designs might be harder to find, thankfully his books are readily available. A good starting point for anyone looking to collect his books for their kids (or themselves) would be Bruno Munari’s ABC, an alphabet book he designed in 1960, which is typical of his playful and colourful style.
Great retro cushions come along pretty often (we seem to feature at least one a month), but this is the best I’ve seen in a while. Simply described as “Retro Green Cushion Cover”, it has a distinctive green tree print on a white background.
The design looks very Scandinavian and the colours are fresh and spring-like. It costs £10.99 which is just for the cover. You’ll need to fill it with your own 45cm x 45cm cushion.
It is being sold by The Contemporary Home who do a surprising amount of retro products considering their name!
