Kate Moross for Topshop collection

12k05sdkg_largeFans of the psychedelic artwork by the likes of Martin Sharp and Hapshash and the Coloured Coat might like the work of a new designer, Kate Moross. She began designing flyers for clubs and bands but her latest venture, a collection of clothes for Topshop is sure to raise her profile considerably.

The Kate Moross for Topshop collection consists of t-shirts, vests and hoodies, all printed with swirling psychedelic images. Inspired by Moross’ background in physics, the designs consist of structured spatial shape intertwined with astrophysical typography. Prices start at £20 for a vest and go up to £30 for the sweatshirts. Pictured here is the Oversized Birdie T-shirt which costs £25 and is my favourite piece in the range.

To view the whole collection, visit the Topshop website.

Spiral Wallpaper by Erika Wakerly

Spiralnew_1800x340A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Erika Wakerly specialises in surface design for interiors which in laymen’s terms means wallpapers and fabric. Browsing her website, the Spiral Wallpaper caught my attention as it has a retro look to it, especially in the brown on cream or black and white options.

The wallpaper has been designed so it can be hung ever horizontally or vertically to create different looks. The same design is also available as a fabric too so you could make matching cushions or upholster a chair!

It costs £45 per roll and can be bought from directly from the designer’s website.

Hara Chair by Giorgio Gurioli for Kundalini

KuharaThe Hara Chair by Giorgio Gurioli for Kundalini is another one of those products that looks as if it has come from the Sixties but is in fact a much more recent creation.

Designed in 2002, it is described as “a bio-energetic seat handmade in lacquered fibreglass”. It has also been treated for outdoor use to protect against ultra violet rays and be resistant to temperature changes. But all that aside, it looks pretty good and was included in GQ magazine’s list of 100 Best Things in the World!

Not a cheap chair by anyone’s standards, Nest are currently selling it at a 10% reduction, bringing the price down to just under £950.

Celia Birtwell for Olivia Morris SS08 Collection

Oliviamorris_3

Sixties textile designer Celia Birtwell has popped up again with a new collaboration, this time with shoe designer Olivia Morris.

The collection, Celia Birtwell for Olivia Morris SS08 consists of six pairs of shoes, a mixture of heels and flats covered in Birtwell’s distinctive prints. Unlike her work with Topshop, this collection comes with a decidedly designer price tag. Pictured here are the Erin Ballet Flats and the Eden Satin Slingbacks, which are priced £295 and £350 respectively from Net a Porter.

To view the whole collection and for a list of other stockists, visit the Olivia Morris website.

The Establishment, London

Establishment0008

Recently opened in the Parsons Green area of London, is a new bar-restaurant called The Establishment.

Whilst its food is described as “hearty British fare with a contemporary twist”, its décor is firmly rooted in the past, apparently taking its inspiration from classic British cop shows and 70s gangster films. What this translates to is a pretty stylish mixture of bold geometric print wallpaper by Wayne Hemmingway, Foscarini chandeliers and leather banquette seating that is supposed to be reminiscent of the seats in a Ford Cortina!

The Establishment also has its own dog (not sure about the hygiene issue here), a bull terrier called Buster whose portrait adorns the restaurant and the website.

The Beatles Opie T-Shirt

Beatles_opie_teeWe could probably devote a whole section to products relating to the Beatles, there is so much of it out there. Sergeant Pepper merchandise is particularly over-exposed and we’ve all probably seen enough of it. But the t-shirt website Mr Cloud has breathed new life into it with their The Beatles Opie T-Shirt.

The Fab Four are pictured in the pop art style favoured by British artist Julian Opie, who is best known for his artwork for Blur’s Best Of album. The t-shirt is available in a range of sizes children’s and adult sizes and a wide selection of colours.

Priced £15.99, it can be bought online at Mr Cloud.
