Loungefly Boombox tote bag

Boombox_tote

We’re always on the hunt for interesting bags – let’s be honest, if you have to carry one round the supermarket, it just has to look good. And you’ll get a few admiring looks from this Loungefly Boombox tote bag.

Ideal for shopping or the daily commute, the Boombox tote has a bold graphical mix of old-style cassette players and tapes, as well as a polka dot interior, two slots for mobile phones, a vinyl trim and best of all, a cassette-shaped coin purse.

You can pick one up for $45, which is around £25.

Oluce 1970s Joe Colombo ceiling lamp

Colombo_ceiling

A strange design, the Oluce Colombo ceiling lamp can add a quirky and slightly industrial look to a room.

Dating back to 1972 and designed (as the name suggests) by Joe Colombo, the Colombo lamp offers both direct and indirect light from adjustable aluminium reflector, with a chrome-plated stem and lacquered ceiling fixing finishing things off.

Not his best, but certainly a talking point – and yours for £331.

Metagram pop art-style London tray

Metagram_london

We all need a tray now and again – and you’ll certainly impress when you produce this Metagram London tray.

Loving the pop art styling, the work of Maria Holmer Dahlgren and featuring some of the capital’s favourite sites, as well as a few quirky 60s-style images.

But best of all, this isn’t too expensive – just £25. Did someone say stocking filler?

George Nelson Tray Table for Vitra

Tray_table

As well as having an understated charm, the George Nelson Tray Table is also a useful little thing.

Just think – you need a side table, an occasional table or a bedside table – well, this Tray Table covers all of that and more. Designed by Nelson back in 1949, the table has a simple adjustable mechanism to fit whatever height you require and with a choice of finish on top of the chrome frame, it should match any room too.

The only downside is the price, £355.68.

Mantel Dome – space age carriage clock

Mantel_dome

The old brass carriage clock isn’t what we’d call stylish – but we’re very much taken by its modern-day equivalent, the Mantel Dome from Innermost.

But that’s probably because those modern looks have more than a hint of the past.  We love those space age blown glass curves, that die cast zinc base and stand and the ‘face’ – which has more that a hint of George Nelson about it.

This Cédric Ragot-designed clock has just launched, available in black or white and can be yours for £95.

Plas_cards

It’s nearly November – which means Christmas is around the corner. And if you’re after some cool and quirky Christmas cards, Plasticland has two great sets that don’t cost a fortune.

Take your pick from Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree and Holiday Mix Tape, both sold in packs of 10 (with contrasting envelopes) and made of recycled paper, should you be worried about the trees.

Best of all they sell for just $14 per pack (which is about £8). Beats an angel and glitter combo anyday.
