Barcelona Design Dalilips – Salvador Dali-inspired outdoor sofa

Dalips

Not just a sofa, but a sofa with a heritage and a sofa you can use outdoors – the Barcelona Design Dalilips sofa.

This is a modern-day update of Salvador Dali’s famous red lips sofa, apparently inspired by Dali’s painting of Mae West and specifically, her lips in that image. That art-based fantasy was later turned into a sofa by French designer Jean-Michel Frank and Spanish designer Oscar Tusquets (in 1972), but only became commercially available from 2002.

This most-recent version from Barcelona Design is made of a durable spin-moulded polyurethane for outdoor use, with a choice of colours from the famous red through to monochrome black and white. Not cheap though – expect to pay £1,610 for this piece of art history.

Billy Bag Helen – 70s-style beach tote bag

Helen_bag

Still not been away on holiday? Well, you’re in luck – firstly because you still have time to pick up this Billy Bag Helen beach bag and secondly, because it’s now been reduced.

Very much a 1970s theme going on here, from the shiny vinyl body through to the bold circular design used for detailing. Indeed, that same design is also used for the canvas purse that’s thrown in too – sitting inside your bag for storing your bits and pieces.

Take your pick from some suitably retro colours too, with each bag selling for £38.50 (down from a previous £55).

Finn Juhl 1960s Tray Table

Tray_table

A very stylish coffee table from the 1960s is available once more – the Finn Juhl Tray Table.

As the name suggests, the table was the work of Finn Juhl back in 1965, reissued again today as more or less an exact copy with a choice of teak or walnut surround, laminate surface (red, blue, green, white or black) and wire-like steel legs.

Sized at 33 x 50 x 50cm, you can pick one up for £625.

e500 – the electric Fiat 500 now available to order

E500

Let’s be honest, the Fiat 500 isn’t exactly a gas guzzler, but if you really want to go down the eco-friendly route, you can now order an electric version of the Fiat 500 – the e500.

The car is built to order by an Italian firm called Micro-Vett, who have apparently been active in creating electric vehicles since the late 80s. Essentially this is your average Fiat 500 (with all the attributes, refinement, crash safety and warranty) – but without the emissions.

Not as fast though – the electric version does around 60mph and has a range of 75 miles using an advanced lithium-ion polymer battery. You can order one now for the UK via the Nice car company, price on application.
