Whirlpool Max Fitness – the microwave with 1970s looks gets an upgrade

Whirlpoolmax_new
I’ve got a Whirlpool Max microwave, bought it for two reasons – firstly, it has an incredibly small footprint and secondly, it’s probably the best-looking microwave out there. And now it’s had an upgrade.

It is now the Whirlpool Max Fitness, but thankfully it keeps the looks and even adds a few more features. The main selling point o the new oven is an Auto Steam function, which (unsurprisingly) steams food, which is apparently a health-conscious thing to do. It also has a Jet Defrost option (defrosts up to five times faster than standard ovens), conventional microwaving and those 70s portable TV looks.

New colours too, including the chocolate brown pictured here (for the full-on retro vibe). It retails for around £99.

Subbuteo Cufflinks – replicas of 1970s players

Subbuteo_cufflinks
I’m loathe to promote novelty cufflinks, but I can’t help but love these Subbuteo Cufflinks.

Made from nickel, the cufflinks are officially licensed and exact replicas of the 1970s-style players (which are now worth quite a bit of cash – as I found out when I recently sold my collection). And if that’s not enough, they even come in a smart presentation box embossed with the Subbuteo logo, along with an instruction leaflet, just in case you’ve never encountered a cufflink before.

Available now, they retail for £19.95 per pair.

Hunky Dory Home’s 70s-style lampshades

Hunkdory

If you’re after a typically 70s vibe in your home or just in a single room, one of Hunky Dory Home’s 70s-style lampshades should add to the look.

There’s a number of shades to choose from, all with the look of bright 70s or retro wallpaper. The two featured above are the Graphic Rosy pendant drum and the Big Hearts pendant drum – both handmade and both made of cotton.

Prices start from around £22, depending on design and size.

Wake Up and Smell The Coffee print

Wakeup
Another retro-styled piece of art from the Keep Calm Gallery, this time the Wake Up and Smell The Coffee print.

Based on an Americanism this time (rather than a typically British saying), this is a hand-pulled screenprint in a limited edition of 100, printed on thick antique-white 100% recycled paper and measuring 18 x 14 inches.

It retails for £20.

Mid-century Charla Chair by Sergio Fahrer

Charla_chair

If you liked the Zzo chair from earlier this week, there’s a good chance you’ll also appreciate the Charla Chair by Brazilian designer Sergio Fahrer.

Like the Zza, the Charla Chair gives more than a nod to some mid-century classics, with that eucalyptus and wengue veneer (from sustainable forests), organic leather upholstery and chrome swivel stand.

Possibly a future design classic and with a price to match at £1,950.
