Space age Felt Chair by Marc Newson

Feltchair
An 80s chair with a distinctly 60s feel – the Felt Chair by Marc Newson.

Yes, this is actually from 1989, but let’s be honest, this is 60s space age in all but name. The Felt Chair is constructed of reinforced fibreglass with a polished natural aluminum back leg and a choice of polished lacquer colours.

Not the most comfortable chair you’ll ever sit in, but certainly an attention grabber. Yours for £2,100.

Wizard of Oz alarm clock

Wizard_alarm_10
We’ll take a moment away from the high-brow fashion and design to go distinctly low-brow and kitsch – with this Wizard of Oz alarm clock.

Can an alarm clock get any cheesier? Unlikely when it has to compete with this stylised image of the characters on the face, not to mention the ‘Judy-style’ gingham print on the side. Oh yes – and it tells the time and gets you out of bed with loud ringing from those bells.

If all of that suits your beside, it’s available for £13.99.

Console Wars I – medals for computer games veterans

Nin_medal
You might feel a sense of achievement when you get through your favourite console classic, but does anyone else really know of your gaming prowess? They will if you wear the Console Wars I.

It’s the first in a series of limited edition pin medals from Supermandolini that apparently ‘celebrate the memories of endless epic battles, infinite high scores and numerous blistered fingers’.

This one’s for Nintendo skills, an enamel pin with a metal body, gold finish and sold in a protective casing. It retails online for 18 Euros.

That’s ‘Aarnio-style’, which means it isn’t authorised – instead it’s got the same space age look and if you don’t tell your friends, they’ll just presume it’s by the same designer.

This quirky fibreglass structure is available in white, red or black, all standing 60cm high and al priced at just over £80.

Sori Yanagi mid-century Butterfly Stool for Vitra

Vitra_butterfly
Interesting design, but probably not the most comfortable place to park your behind – the Sori Yanagi mid-century Butterfly Stool for Vitra.

It’s something of a culture clash, with Sori Yanagi mixing Easter inspiration with Eames working techniques in 1954 to produce the Butterfly – so named because the shape is reminiscent of the wings of a butterfly.

The stool is available in two sizes and three finishes (maple, palisander or cherry veneer), all with brass fixings. Prices start at £258.40.
