Shag Japan-only tiki mugs and collectibles now on sale – for a limited time

Shag_tiki
If you are quick, you can bag some real Shag rarities – these Japan-only tiki mugs and collectibles.

They were made exclusively for the Japanese market, with a clause blocking their sale outside that country. But a limited amount of stock has been released, which you can order now. Some lucky people will be able to order the complete set – sure to be collectors’ gold dust. The rest will be sold as individual items on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

The image here shows all the pieces, but if you want to get up close, check out larger images at the site, then get your credit card out – I doubt these will last the day.

Pascal Tarabay Birdhouse cuckoo clock

Birdhouse_cuckoo
The classic cuckoo clock is back with a twist as the Birdhouse cuckoo clock by Pascal Tarabay.

Just like the traditional cuckoo clock, the board pops out every hour to inform you of the time, but unlike the old version, this one has some new technology on board – a light sensor which stops the noise during the hours of darkness.

Add to that the traditional ‘house’ shape and retro-styled digits and you have one very cool clock. It’s available in a choice of colour from Snow Home for £115.

Mini Me – kids’ retro fashion colouring book

Minime

No matter what the generation, all kids love a colouring book – and the Mini Me colouring book is a very cool one for you or your children to own.

It’s an A5 book featuring 17 self-portrait line drawings by selected artists, each wearing their favourite outfit from when they were a child. The artists in question include Daisy de Villeneuve, Mark Pawson, Danielle Proud (House Proud, Hip Craft), Adrian Johnson, Rachel Ortas, Hannah Dyson (The Idler), Jake, Nervous Stephen and Austin of New & Zeel, all accompanied by descriptions of the outfits on display. And as a bonus, there’s a cut-out necklace by cult jewellrey designers Tatty Devine.

The book was produced to tie in with Mini Me, The birth of kids’ fashion in the Boutique Era Exhibition at Pollock’s Toy Museum. Sadly, that’s no longer showing, but you can still pick up the book for £5.

Colombo One and Two – Joe Colombo-inspired home phones for £40

Colombo2_2

It’s rare to see just one stylish home phone, so we were amazed to find two heading to the shelves – the Colombo One and Colombo Two.

Both are the work of ChauhanStudio and will be in the shops from March. The designs (as the names suggest) are inspired by the work of Italian space age designer Joe Colombo – there’s even a ‘Boby Trolley’ colour scheme for one of the handsets. The Colombo One is pictured above, which is a more angled handset with a flat base, the Colombo Two is similar, but with a more upright shape.

But best of all is the price – both will sell for around £40 on the high street, which sounds like great value to me. You can find out more and see an image of Colombo One over at Switched On Set.

Villeroy & Boch re-introduces 70s Acapulco design for NewWave tableware

Vill_boch

A mix of the old and the new, with Villeroy & Boch re-introducing the 1970s Acapulco design for its modern-day NewWave tableware.

The Acapulco pattern is inspired by colourful South American prints, with the birds and flowers originally used (to great success) by the company in 1977. 30 years on and it now features on the NewWave-shape espresso cups, cappuccino cups, coffee cups and mugs, as well as matching plates.

Prices vary, depending on the piece, but start at under £10.
