Acctim 50s-style wall clock at Asda

Acctim

A piece of retro design that doesn't cost you a month's wages – indeed, the Acctim 50s-style wall clock is almost pocket money priced.

Available from Asda, the clock has those distinctive large 50s-style numbers for the time, sat on a black background around a spun metal centre disc, the whole thing coming in at around 30cm, in diameter.

And right now, it's reduced to clear at Asda online for a very cheap £14.99. I suspect it's not likely to be around long for that price.

Aertex 60s-style casual tops

Aertex

Liking the new range of casual wear over at Aertex – including the 60s-style casual tops.

Check out the site for the full range, but we've picked out the Kain and Oliver designs as our favourites (above). The Kain is a 100 per cent cotton short sleeve polo shirt with contrast stripes, along with collar and pocket. That sells for £50.

Or you can opt for the Oliver, which is a cotton and polyester mix with contrast stripe detailing, a zip neck and textured body. That one is yours for £40. And if you're in a hurry, this longstanding Manchester-based retailer ships the same day as orders are received.

William Plunkett 1960s WP01 sofa

Plunkett

I love the stylish simplicity of the William Plunkett WP01 sofa, perfect for a lazy Sunday in front of the TV.

This 1966 design is part of a system of similarly-designed items that can be used separately or as super-cool modular items (should you have a long wall to fill), this one featuring a high back, anodised aluminium legs and upholstered foam 'barrels' for that distinctive shape and comfort. if that's a bit too simple, armrests are available as an option.

Now reissued in various finishes by Twenty Twenty One, you can pick one up from £2,970.

Emu arm puppet returns

Emu

Sadly, Rod Hull has long departed, but we still have Emu, returning here as a large or small puppet.

What can you say, except this is an official replica of the original 1970s (and 80s) Emu (more professional in many ways), giving you license to attack friends and family at will. Because as we  all know, it isn't you, it's the Emu. And of course, you can manipulate that sift beak into various expressions, just for added effect.

Who knows…it could be a whole new career for you in light entertainment – and all for just £14.95.

Monitor Season at BFI Southbank

Monitor_bfi
If you're on the look out for some vintage culture, look no further than the Monitor Season at BFI Southbank.

Monitor was the BBC's flagship arts show in the 1950s and 1960s, hosted by Huw Weldon and featuring a hosting of 'cutting edge' cultural figures of the day, not to mention a team of directors for the short films that included the likes of John Schlesinger and Ken Russell.

The BFI's season will feature themed compilations of the shows, featuring surviving archive material – Monitor Interviews the Artist, Monitor on Film, Monitor: Humorists, Novelists and Angry Young Men and Monitor Miscellany. It runs from 9th to the 23rd April, see over the page for the full details.

eBay watch: Verner Panton System 123 lounge chair

Panton_123

Another great piece of discontinued design on eBay – the Verner Panton System 123 lounge chair.

Typically Panton, but not widely available these days – it was produced for Fritz Hansen in a variety of finishes back in 1973, produced up until 1989. This particular model has the high-end 'deluxe' finish, along with that chrome base that offers a 360-degree swivel. Or if you had a few, you can push together for a very special modular sofa.

Indeed, the seller has three of these, all available at the closing price to the successful bidder. How much will that be? Who knows – but the price is currently at a very affordable £106.
