Pure Evoke Mio DAB radio by Orla Kiely

Orla1

Pure is battling Roberts for the designer radio crown, but we think this Pure Evoke Mio DAB radio by Orla Kiely just edges the Roberts Cath Kidston radio.

As you can see, the exterior is covered by Orla Kiely's signature stem print, finished off with a mirrored chrome handle and a walnut-veneered cabinet. According to Pocket Lint, it has both DAB and FM reception, with an input for an iPod or MP3 player and the option of the Pure ChargePAK for up to 24 hours of portable listening per charge. Other features include 30 presets and Intellitext and textScan functions for pausing and scrolling through text information.

The Pure Evoke Mio DAB radio by Orla Kiely will be on sale exclusively at John Lewis from early November and at other retailers from March 2011. £149.99 will secure you one. Another shot of the radio over the page.

B&Q’s Verner Panton-like Cupola table lamp

Cupola

B&Q is always a good place to look for interesting and affordable lighting without the big price tag, which this Cupola table lamp is certainly an example of.

Available in various colours (not just the red above), it reminds us of both the Verner Panton Flopwerpot light and his Panthella lamp – not a bad marriage, we have to say.

Made of metal, the lamp stands at just 38cm tall, has an in-line hand switch and needs a 40w bulb for light – the latter likely to add a couple of quid onto the modest £15.98 price tag for the lamp.

Pac-Man Ghost Lamps

Pacman

Yes, the Pac-Man merchandise just keeps coming – the latest being these rather wonderful Pac-Man Ghost Lamps.

Take your pick from white, red, blue and yellow, all shaped like those Pac-Man ghosts and using 20 to 40w bulbs for the light. We're talking mood light here obviously – not sure it's ideal as a work or bedside reading lamp to be honest.

If you want one (or more), ThinkGeek is selling them online, each one retailing for $69.99, which is around £44.

Jonathan Adler’s Lolita-style sunglasses case

Petit_heartsunglass_pink

With summer fading into a memory for another year, it's sadly time to put the sunglasses away. What better way to keep them in style than with Jonathan Adler's heart sunglasses case

Since the 1962 film, heart sunglasses will forever be associated with Lolita and they still frequently crop up on the catwalk. The motif on this case is immaculately crafted using needlepoint and uses a Lolita-style colour scheme too – red frames against a bubblegum pink background.

The case costs £30.

Handcrafted Modern by Leslie Williamson

Handcrafted modernism

Looking for some interiors inspiration? A flick through the 200-plus pages of Handcrafted Modern by Leslie Williamson should give you some ideas. As implied by its subtitle, 'At home with mid-century designers', these are directly drawn from the homes of some of our best loved designers.

In this highly visual book, photographer Williamson goes to the homes of 14 different mid-century designers to look at their own interpretations of modernism. As part of her quest she only visits homes that have been left unchanged (although some are now museums), including the abodes of George Nakashima, Harry Bertoia and Charles and Ray Eames, as well as the highlight of seeing inside Walter Gropius's Bauhaus home in Massachusetts, USA.

Published by Rizzoli, it's currently for sale for £25.50 on Amazon.
