Heal's are gearing up for their bicentenary in 2010 in a big way. We've mentioned some of their projects before which include the Heal's: 200 years of design and inspiration book. They've also re-issued six of their finest advertising posters. 

There's not actually much information online on who designed what poster and when (perhaps you need to buy the book to find out) but they are all certainly attractive designs in their own right and offer a fascinating glimpse into how their advertising has changed over the years. The poster on the left was clearly used to launch their 1958 designs while the one on the right looks like it came from a few decades earlier. 

The posters are available for £12 unframed each or for £195 for a framed limited edition.

Hi-Fidelity Cat Magazine Rack by Fornasetti

Hi-Fidelity Cat Magazine Rack is one of the most surprising product names I’ve come across in some time but it is no real surprise to find it comes from the strange mind of Piero Fornasetti.

Magazines are housed in-between two images of a check-covered cat, which is available in a choice of black & white, red & black or gold & black, all equally strange looking.

The magazine rack costs $674 (around £450) from Unica Home, which may not leave you with much money for magazines to put in it, but in this case it is no exaggeration to insist that it is considered a work of art rather than a mere storage solution.

Lots of us love a cup of tea, but would you want to advertise the fact from the ceiling? You will be if you invest in the Teapot light range by Original BTC.

Yes, a range of teapots (and a coffee pot for coffee lovers) that are inspired by 1930s tableware. The shade (as you would expect) is made of bone china, the cable in old school cotton braid, while a 60w bulb provides the light.

Artifort Gap chair by Khodi Feiz

Gap

A modern design has got a stylish makeover – giving the Artifort Gap chair by Khodi Feiz a distinctly midcentury look.

The chair is a midcentury-inspired piece in essence (think Eero Saarinen Womb Chair), but with the option of different legs for office or causual use and now that Gstaad upholstery, courtesy of Missoni.

Hard to find a UK seller right now, so you might be wise to enquire at an authorised Artifort dealer about one. Expect to pay around the £760 mark.

Retro Scandinavian Katt greeting card from Tea and Ceremony

Cast your mind back to last month and you may remember the pretend Swedish posters from Takashi Furuya. Well, this Katt greeting card has a similarly retro Scandinavian look, right down to the name, but it's actually made by Manchester company Tea and Ceremony. 

Take a look at their Etsy store or their own online shop and it's full of equally charming designs: there are similar cards available featuring a hen or a squirrel – or should that be 'hona' and 'ekorre'?

You can buy the design shown as a notebook for $7.50 while the greeting card costs $5.

Wilhelm Wagenfeld WA 24 Globe lamp Globe Lamp

Wagenfeld-Globe-Light-Glass

Wilhelm Wagenfeld designed the WA 24 Globe Lamp in 1924, when he was just 24 years old. It was created when he had just come to the Bauhaus workshop and made in order to complete his study and become a master craftsman.

The lamp available to buy today from the Art Deco Design Shop has been inspired by Wagenfeld’s successful design. It is available in two options, either with a metal base or with a glass base as shown here, priced £183 and £201 respectively.
