Harper mid-century inspired dining table by Pinch Design

Pinch dining table

The work of Pinch Design has been highlighted before on this site due their classic designs which use quality materials. Their Harper dining table is another product that fulfils both these criteria with a lovely mid-century look too. The base of the table is made from walnut and there is a choice of an oak, tinted walnut or lacquered finish for the top. At 2 metres long, it claims to seat a maximum of 8 people though they can make bespoke sizes on request.

As you might expect, the price tag reflects the quality with the solid oak top and walnut leg version costing £2245. However, it's a classic piece of furniture that won't date and so should be a worthwhile investment.

Piero Castiglioni Parola table light

Parola

It might look like a modernist design, but the Piero Castiglioni Parola table light is more modern than that, although it's far from a modern design.

1980 was the year this was introduced and the Parola has now been reissued by Fontana Arte, offering a table light complete with dimmer, along with a base in transparent glass, a stem in borosilicate glass and a diffuser in amber or white opal blown glass.

Standing around 53cm high, the Parola table light sells for £547.

Bipro 360 1960s wall and ceiling lamp by Christian Girard

Bipro

Remember the Christian Girard 1969 table lamp for Azimut Industries? Well, there's also a version for your wall and ceiling – the Bipro 360.

Obviously designed by Christian Girard for Azimut Industries once more, it offers up the same industrial style as the 1969 and the same method of working – magnetic articulation allows you to shift your spots to any angle and push light either upwards or downwards.

Choose from the chromed steel finish here or a colour, as well as either one or two light sources (the single version is called the Monopro 360), which will need halogen bulbs for the actual light. Prices start at £149.

The Gus Modern Thompson chair pair

Gus modern chairs

These great looking Thompson chairs are made by a Canadian company called Gus Modern who are heavily influenced by mid-century aesthetics. They come in a variety of colour combinations based on the colour of the wood and the black or white colour of the seat. As they only ship in twos, you'll have to think carefully if you want your pair to contrast, as in this image, or to match (begging the question, would a matching pair be called 'Thompson Twins'?!).

They only seemed to be available in North America at the moment but 2modern offers international shipping. One pair will cost you $470.
