Verner Panton 1970s UFO suspension light

Ufo

Another gem plucked from the archives by Verpan, the Verner Panton UFO suspension light.

That space age style can only be from one decade and indeed, it does date back to 1975, offering a series of suspended plastic hoops which acts as reflectors to create a light that's both bright and ornamental.

Now available once more, it's yours for £975.

Jonathan Adler Camille chair

Jonathan-Adler-Camille-Chair_0973D88A
Jonathan Adler's designs continue to inspire with this Camille chair. Their blurb describes it as being 'industrial modernist'. With its dark wood and shape, figuring out what they mean by modernist is a no-brainer, but the industrial bit is harder to pin down. Perhaps it's because the solid walnut of the frame is exposed at the seat and on the chair back, or because of the brass finishes.

Setting such descriptive quibbles aside, it's a handsome looking chair with a choice of flax or olive seat that will set you back $795.

Dwell’s tripod table lamp

Tripod lamp

Dwell's tripod table lamp looks very similar to the 1970s style Corono design they sold last year. It's also got a retro look and, more specifically, a tubular tripod base and a glass shade that surrounds three bulbs. However, this lamp appears to be more streamlined than the Corono model, with more elongated looking legs and a larger shade. This all helps it look more elegant, a bit less science project.

It's also bigger than the old version at 50cm high and, even better, cheaper at £75.

Tattoo lettering stencil kit

Tattoo kit

If you've always fancied a 50s rockers-esque tattoo, but couldn't handle the pain or the commitment, you may be interested in this tattoo stencil kit. The kit contains four pens (black, green, red and blue) and three stencils.

Sadly the stencils only include the stylised letters and numbers, rather than some of the more interesting imagery you would also associate with the look. However that's probably because such images require a touch more advanced artistry than that offered by a stencil. I suspect also they would carry a price higher than the kit's £9!

Conrad table from the Misewell furniture range

Conrad table

The Conrad table pictured is taken from the first collection of a company called Misewell. It's the work of a couple of brothers, Vincent and Paul Georgeson, who have consciously set out to produce designs with a timeless quality by using materials and techniques which have been around since the industrial revolution. They seem to have succeeded as the piece doesn't look screamingly contemporary but is hard to tie to a specific era. The other furniture in the range has a similarly gentle retro feel.

This table costs $1100 and is made from a solid walnut top which snaps into a steel bracket. The steel is powder coated and comes in a range of colours: black, white and tomato.

Copacabana Table by Eero Aarnio

Copa

A belated accompaniment to a classic space age chair – the Copacabana Table by Eero Aarnio.

It was designed to go with that 60s classic, the Pastil Chair, but whereas the chair made it to market in 1967, the 'matching' table only made it onto the market in 1991. Well, better late than never. The curved lines are designed to suit the round shape of the Pastil and the size makes it perfect to use as a table or as a small bench. Made of plastic too, which means it's good to go outside as well.

Each unit costs £1,295, but if you cash to splash, more units connect up together for a larger seating/table area.
