Metagram pop art-style London tray

Metagram_london

We all need a tray now and again – and you’ll certainly impress when you produce this Metagram London tray.

Loving the pop art styling, the work of Maria Holmer Dahlgren and featuring some of the capital’s favourite sites, as well as a few quirky 60s-style images.

But best of all, this isn’t too expensive – just £25. Did someone say stocking filler?

George Nelson Tray Table for Vitra

Tray_table

As well as having an understated charm, the George Nelson Tray Table is also a useful little thing.

Just think – you need a side table, an occasional table or a bedside table – well, this Tray Table covers all of that and more. Designed by Nelson back in 1949, the table has a simple adjustable mechanism to fit whatever height you require and with a choice of finish on top of the chrome frame, it should match any room too.

The only downside is the price, £355.68.

Arne Jacobsen’s Seagull Armchair

Seagullchair

Not as famous as the Egg or Swan Chair, Arne Jacobsen’s Seagull Armchair has a similar body shape to his Series 7 chairs but with distinctive wing-like arms.

Swedish website Modernity currently has one Seagull Armchair available for sale, a model they are dating back to 1973. It is costs just over £1000.

A quick search of the usual online retailers hasn’t brought up any re-issues or reproductions of the Seagull Armchair, so vintage may be the only way to buy it. Do let us know if you see it anywhere else. Visit the Modernity website to see the chair they have.

Mantel Dome – space age carriage clock

Mantel_dome

The old brass carriage clock isn’t what we’d call stylish – but we’re very much taken by its modern-day equivalent, the Mantel Dome from Innermost.

But that’s probably because those modern looks have more than a hint of the past.  We love those space age blown glass curves, that die cast zinc base and stand and the ‘face’ – which has more that a hint of George Nelson about it.

This Cédric Ragot-designed clock has just launched, available in black or white and can be yours for £95.

Henrik Thor-Larsen 1960s Ovalia Egg Chair reissued – with optional sound system

Ovalia

A 1960s classic that’s been unavailable for 30 years – but you can now buy the Henrik Thor-Larsen Ovalia Egg Chair once more.

This Scandinavian design classic was first seen back in 1968 and the 2008 version is very much the same chair – an egg-shaped shell of glass fibre lined with polyester cushions from a choice of over 20 colours. You can use it on its rotating stand or you can hang it from the ceiling. Either way, it’s a stunner.

But there is something new for 2008 – an interior speaker package from luxury speaker manufacturer JBL, fully upholstered and integrated, allowing you to enjoy your music in your own little space. Available now, prices start at £4,950.

Vauni Globe – space age fireplace now available in white

Globe_white

Back in January, we featured the Vauni Globe over on Switched On Set, loving its PacMan-style looks, not so keen on the industrial black colour. But now thats been put right, with the Vauni Globe now available in a stunning white version.

Designed by Markus Grip, the Vauni Globe is the world’s only globe-shaped ethanol fireplace, now perfect for a 70s-style pad or for anyone with an obsession with Space 1999. Not just a pretty face either – the Globe can be turned round a full 360 degrees and it has both heating and flame size controls. All you need is the fuel and you’re away.

Not cheap at around £2,400, but guaranteed to turn some heads.
