Joe Colombo 1960s Oluce Coupe table lamp

Oluce

Contrary to general opinion, not everything from the mind of Joe Colombo was space age and plastic – some of his designs were as simple as the Couple table lamp.

Designed for Oluce Lighting in 1967, it’s very much a functional item, but with that magic ingredient of style. Take your pick from black or white, both with lacquered metal bases, lacquered aluminium heads and chrome plated stems.

If you want to treat your desk, it will cost you around £413.

Zanotta Dora 70s-style armchair

Dora

It could be straight off the set of Space 1999, but the Zanotta Dora armchair is actually a 2005 design, the work of Ludovica and Roberto Palomba.

Designed for use around a table or as a standalone seat in its own right, the Dora consists of a polyethylene frame, with optional floral decorations or if you prefer, with a glossy lacquered finish. And as it’s essentially plastic, you can use as the coolest outdoor chair on the block.

Prices start at £317.13.

Barbara Hulanicki wallpaper range for Graham & Brown

Viva

You may recall Biba founder Barbara Hulanicki doing a wallpaper range for Habitat back in 2006. Well, she’s at it again, this time producing a wallpaper range for Graham & Brown.

And it’s very much inspired by the designs from the Biba store at its 70s height, those interlocking images (like the Viva above) available in light shades or a much more imposing black and silver. if that’s a bit much, a Diva range tones things down in both colouring and pattern.

Available now, the designs sell for £30 per roll.

Luceplan Sky – space age outdoor light

Sky

External/outdoor lights tend to be pretty grim affairs – check your local B&Q if you want evidence. That’s certainly not the case with the Luceplan Sky light.

Designed by Alfredo Häberli and available in three colours (white, chestnut or plain aluminium), it offers 70s space age style for our outdoor space. Weatherproofing is via the aluminium casing, matched with a transparent polycarbonate diffuser and fluorescent bulb (included) for energy-saving light.

You can also use it indoors as either a ceiling or wall light. Whatever you choose, the price is the same – £260.
