Tangent Quattro – retro-styled internet radio

Tangent_quattro2
As more of us have wireless internet connections, the idea of internet radios is more appealing. Unfortunately, most net radios have little or no style – with the exception of the Tangent Quattro.

The Tangent Quattro comes with this stylish walnut exterior (which should fit in nicely with your mid-century furnishings), as well as retro-styled controls. And it’s also a great radio, with access to 6,000 stations without a PC, as well as being an alarm clock and being able to connect to your computer wirelessly to playback your MP3 collection.

Available now, you can pick one up for £179.95.

DJ-phone’s Satisfashion – retro handset for hip DJs

Djphone Ever looked at the DJ booth in your local club and wondered why the bloke (or girl) on there happens to be on the phone? They’re not booking a taxi or chatting to a mate, the DJ is lining up the next disc for your enjoyment, free of weighty headphones that might flatten the hip young thing’s hair. Or more practically, leaving one ear open to hear what’s going on.

And you can pick one up too – the very stylish DJ-phone by Satisfashion. It’s a high quality vintage Swedish handset, converted for headphone functionality. In fact, the attention to detail in the conversion means you can actually hear both channels on the earphone, making cueing up your next tune a breeze.

Yours from Sivletto for £25.

Sculptura Phone

Donut1_01The Sculptura telephone was a quintessential 1970s phone. Produced by Western Electric in a choice of three colour (yellow, brown or white), it was available as either Touchtone or rotary dial. It is also often referred to as the donut phone on account of its distinctive shape.

These phones seem to come up on Ebay in the USA fairly regularly but if you don’t want to take a chance on bidding for one, then there are several other online stockists including the Ericofon website who currently have brown and yellow with both dial styles in stock. Prices currently range from $50 for brown rotary up to $85 for yellow touchtone. If you’d preferred a yellow Sculptura, Modcats currently has one for $90.

These are USA phones but they will work in other countries with the right adapter.

Levis-styled mobile phone on its way

Levi_mobile

I was slightly disappointed when I saw this Levis mobile phone, fully expecting it to be denim-clad with a red tag hanging off the corner. But what we do have is something a bit more practical.

It actually looks quite cool, not unlike an old calculator (and not unlike the sadly-departed Samsung P300 calculator phone), with the classic Levis logo engraved on the back. For the technical amongst you, there’s also an MP3 player, two megapixel camera, Bluetooth and an SD memory card slot.

It comes in metallic silver, black and brown copper, each selling for 500 Euros – or heavily discounted from your local provider. Expect it from September.

The cassette mix tape goes USB

Mixtape_usb

Once there could be no greater sign of your love or friendship than creating and passing on your favourite tunes on an old cassette tape. But cassettes have died away, so what should you do? You could send a USB Mix Tape from Suck UK.

Yes, this is a cassette for the digital age. Instead of loading a tape, you can add your digital tunes to the USB stick included. And it comes in a cassette-style box, so you can even add the handwritten tracklisting to the outside, as well as adding your own message to the stick.

Nice idea, but as yet there isn’t a price for it. But we’ll know more when it goes on sale in September.
