Crosley Revolution CR6002 portable record player now available in the UK

Crosley

Some of you might remember that last month we said that the Crosley Revolution CR6002 portable record player was available in the US. At the same time, we said we we expected Urban Outfitters to jump on it in the UK eventually. Well, it just has.

The Revolution is a reworking of the Sound Burger, that favourite of the crate digger, offering (we presume) the same features as the US model, which is portable record playback at 33/45 speeds, full range stereo speakers, battery power, an FM transmitter for firing music over to your audio system wirelessly and a USB socket, so you can easily transfer vinyl to digital formats.

Not sure about instore stock, but the player is available online right now in the ivory colour right now, priced at £165.

Nin_iphone

Etsy is always rich pickings for something interesting and creative, with this Rock Dock being a typical example.

It's just one example from the range of GeekUnique, which also includes quirky docks made from old kit by Atari, Sony and of course, Nintendo, throughout the years. This is of course a dock made from an 80s Nintendo NES controller, simply connect the included USB cable to your computer to charge and sync any iPhone or iPod (excluding the iPod Shuffle).

Cheap enough at a price of $34.99.

Mobiles phones go retro – Motorola StarTAC gets a colourful reissue

Startac

As a rule, the 1990s is a bit too early to become 'retro', but as mobile phones are updated pretty much on a weekly basis, 1996 is a lifetime away in the world of handsets. That was the year the Motorola StarTAC was first issued and almost 15 years on, it's been reissued in various colourful shades.

Not by Motorola you understand. The new StarTAC is produced by French company Lekki, with the vintage flip phone being the first in a range of old phones being brought back by the company, aimed at lovers of no-nonsense calling and no doubt, modern-day hipsters with a love of the ironic.

Transistor Radio print by Patrick Edgeley

Transistor-radioFULL

This Transistor Radio print by Patrick Edgeley features a great retro subject matter given a stylishly retro treatment.

We've featured his work before, under his studio name Anti Graphic, with (of course) an equally retro subject matter, vintage kitchenware. This print is executed in a lively 1950s/60s style which reminds me of the work of poster artists of that period, such as Royston Cooper

A reasonable investment too, as this limited edition silkscreen print costs £60.

Floppy disk sticky notes from Suck UK

 Floppydiskstickynotes
Add some retro charm to your office with a reminder of some outdated technology courtesy of these floppy disk sticky notes from Suck UK

Yes, they are sticky notes that are designed to look like those old floppy disks that used to litter up the desk. However, as you can actually write on these notes, when used in conjunction with another piece of old-fashioned technology (i.e. a pen!) they're a lot more useful than the real thing for speedily conveying information.

You get three note pads in a pack for £7.50.

Pure Evoke Mio DAB radio by Orla Kiely

Orla1

Pure is battling Roberts for the designer radio crown, but we think this Pure Evoke Mio DAB radio by Orla Kiely just edges the Roberts Cath Kidston radio.

As you can see, the exterior is covered by Orla Kiely's signature stem print, finished off with a mirrored chrome handle and a walnut-veneered cabinet. According to Pocket Lint, it has both DAB and FM reception, with an input for an iPod or MP3 player and the option of the Pure ChargePAK for up to 24 hours of portable listening per charge. Other features include 30 presets and Intellitext and textScan functions for pausing and scrolling through text information.

The Pure Evoke Mio DAB radio by Orla Kiely will be on sale exclusively at John Lewis from early November and at other retailers from March 2011. £149.99 will secure you one. Another shot of the radio over the page.
