Newgate God Save The Queen Clock

God-save-the-queen

Newgate has produced a number of retro clocks, usually inspired by old-fashioned railway station clocks, but this is the first one I’ve seen that is influenced by punk.

The God Save the Queen Clock doesn’t feature Jamie Reid’s iconic artwork for the Sex Pistols’ record, but does have a punk aesthetic, with paint splattered patterns clashing with the vintage-style numerals. The clock is made from glass and measures 50cm in diameter.

It costs £44.95 from Colloco.

Bond Girls Wallpaper by Jordi Labanda

Bondgirlswallpaper
Another retro-influenced wallpaper by Jordi Labanda, this one entitled Bond Girls.

The wallpaper depicts various glamorous ladies dressed in retro chic clothing in silhouette. My knowledge of the Bond films is not the best in the world but I don’t remember a Bond girl with two dachshunds like one of the characters here. But the paper is available in seven or 007 colours as the blurb describes it, continuing the Bond theme. Choose from violet, rose, champagne, chocolate (with pink ladies), black & white , silver or night.

The wallpaper costs £46 per roll from Tangletree Interiors.

Next Retro Canister Set

Canisters
Next currently has a whole collection of kitchenware in bright green, which is a little garish in such large quantities, but used in moderation here on this Canister Set it works rather well.

Each canister has a slightly different variation on the green flower pattern, so that you don’t mix up your tea, coffee and sugar (although the canisters are named too). The canisters are all 14cm high and sold as a set of three for £24.

Buy them online from the Next website.

60s style Nina dining range at Habitat

Nina platter

The Nina dining range, new in at Habitat, uses bright 60s-style shapes and colours to create an impact.

The bold colours give the dishes a Pop Art flavour, while the 'slinky'-like shape included in the pattern references another key 60s art movement, Op Art. To complete the look, the range is all made from melamine and includes the platter shown above, as well as trays, dishes and even salad servers.

If you like this look, you may want to take a look at Habitat's Evelyn lightshades which use a similar pattern.

Prices start at £2.

Pac-Man heat changing mug

Pacman_mug

If old arcade games (and hot drinks) are your thing, you might just like this Pac-Man heat changing mug.

An officially licensed product via Namco, the mug holds your hot drink and does something else – when a hot drink hits it, the characters and power-ups suddenly appear within the maze on the side. Presumably, when it cools, they go away again.

You can get one from Firebox, priced at £5.99.

Peacock dinnerware by Pied a Terre

Peacock dinner

This peacock dinnerware set by Pied a Terre will definitely make an impact on your table.

The set includes everything from plates to soup bowls, all decorated with a repeat design of stylised peacock feathers. It's got a definite 1970s feel when that decade's designers were themselves looking back to the Victorian era for inspiration. The dramatic look is enhanced by the high gloss finish and gold detailing used on the set.

Reasonably priced too, with prices ranging from £5.20 for an espresso cup up to £16 for the tea pot.
