Sanderson 150th anniversary cushions at John Lewis

Sanderson swallow cushion

We've already featured the exhibition celebrating the 150th anniversary of Sanderson. You can now purchase some of their classic design for your home with these anniversary cushions

John Lewis is selling three cushions, each covered in a reissued Sanderson fabric that's been reproduced from designs held in their extensive archive. The light and fresh design of the Soaring Swallows cushion shown dates from the 1930s, while the other two cushions use the Tulips design from 1929 and the Rose Moss pattern from the 1950s – both floral designs that look typically 'Sanderson'.

The Soaring Swallow cushion costs £35.

Monroe Coffee Table

42720_large

The distinctive boomerang shape of the Monroe Coffee Table was inspired by 1950s Americana styles. I can’t see any direct connection between the table design and icon after which it is named, other than that they are from the same period.

The table is available with a choice of tabletop finishes. Choose from grey crackle (pictured here), black stone, black or antique white.

The Monroe Coffee Table costs just under £460 from Home Temptations.

Jonathan Adler Customised Cushions

Cushion2

We’ve long been admirers to Jonathan Adler’s retro inspired designs so are now delighted to discover that the online shop has introduced a “Customize Your Pillows and Rugs” service. This allows you to pick your favourite design and change the colours to fit with your home’s colour scheme.

With the cushion, you can choose from 15 designs, most of which are 60s influenced, such as the CND sign, a heart, a target, concentric squares or dots and colour the various elements of the design in a choice of 20 colours. You can then pick another pattern for the reverse. As if that wasn’t enough choice, the cushions also come in two sizes and a choice of materials.

The 16 x 16 cushions cost $110 (about £80) and the larger 24 x 24 size cost $195 (about £120). Visit the Jonathan Adler website to create your perfect cushion.

Diamantini & Domeniconi Gomitolo Wall Clock

Gomitolo04

It isn’t often that a design takes me completely by surprise, but I’m pretty sure I’ve not seen anything like Diamantini & Domeniconi’s Gomitolo Wall Clock.

The clock is the product of a collaboration between a fashion designer and an industrial designer with the ethos of “challenging preconceptions by bringing products together with totally unexpected materials”. In layman’s terms, this is a giant clock covered by a removable knitted cover, giving the clock a cosy retro look (the cover reminding me of knitwear from the 70s). It is available in two sizes, 500mm diameter or a massive 900mm, with a choice of six colours for the smaller size and four colours for the bigger size.

The Gomitolo Wall Clock is available from Nest, priced just over £210 or just under £400 depending on the size.

Umbra Daisy Wall Decorations

Umbra-daisy-decor

These Daisy Wall Decorations by Umbra make an interesting change from the now ubiquitous decals.

The set consists of nine moulded plastic flowers with white petals and a red centre, in three different sizes. They can be displayed as they are, which I personally rather like, but they can also be used as photo frames by placing a photograph in the centre. The flowers are easy to mount on the wall using the supplied magnet and tack.

The Daisy Wall Decorations cost £23.50 from Red Candy.
