Retro Double Recycling Bin

Recycle

Whilst there are plenty of products available to help you sort and store your recycling, not many have a retro style.

Back in 2008, we featured the Ovetto Recycling Bin and now we’ve come across this Retro Double Recycling Bin. Whereas the Ovetto had a space age design, this product’s look is more fifties-influenced with its curved edges and enamel finish. It would look good next to some of Smeg’s kitchen appliances. The bin has two compartments, each containing a 13 litre bin, so you can separate your glass from your plastics.

It is available to buy from Rose and Grey via Not on the High Street, priced £295.

Retro-styled bathroom scales from Bengt Ek Design

Scales

If you're paying attention to details, you don't want something as basic as a pair of scales ruining that retro look in your home. Thankfully that's where these bathroom scales from Bengt Ek design come in.

Rather than referencing a specific design (and to be honest, I've not read up on the design history of the bathroom scale), these introduce some 60s touches onto this humble object. They're made from curved aluminium while the rolling red pointer and white counter are housed under a nice bubble roof.

Want something good to look at while you keep up the efforts to look good? These scales cost 186,60 euros

‘Old time’ car desk accessory by Troika

Troika car

Got the retro car bookends? Complete the look of a high-flying executive office with Troika’s old time car desk accessory.

It’s described as ‘old time’ and I’m afraid I’m also no closer than that to recognising the model of car this might have been based on. However, it’s definitely got a glamorous retro look, suitable for adorning (presumably walnut) writing desks. It’s also vaguely useful too – as it’s magnetic you can use it for storing up paper clips or having other office based fun with metallic items.

It’s perfectly priced for a gift at £25.

Gorenje RF60309 Retro fridge freezer goes Vintage

Gor1

We have featured the name Gorenje before, specifically with its Retro Funky range of fridge/freezers, which give Smeg a run for its not money – not least on price. Well, they're back with the RF60309 Retro fridge freezer, which is being sold in Vintage colourways.

Specifically that's the shade above and the chocolate varation over the page, both with those classic looks and now with subdued colourways that should fit into a vintage-style kitchen or home. Not that the actual fridge is a throwback, offering up all the features including a hefty capacity, an A++ energy efficiency rating, auto defrosting, fast chill, self-closing door and flexible storage.

No price, but we suspect around the same as the recent range, with prices there starting at £799.

Maisie duvet set from John Lewis

Maisie duvet

It's got a design that looks like it's straight from the 70s but this Maisie duvet set from John Lewis is actually a contemporary design.

Certainly not the duvet to go for if you want a calm and neutral look in your bedroom, this design has a strong folk influence and uses birds, flowers and other trailing plants to create its distinctive pattern. The retro feel is enhanced by the blue and green against white colour scheme.

The duvet cover costs between £35 to £65 depending on size while pillow cases are £15 to £18.
