Heals retro-styled Blyton picnic hamper

Picnic1

Ok, we'll admit it – we planned on featuring this as the perfect Easter accessory prior to the Easter weekend. Unfortunately the weather has turned a little, so you might want to wait a bit before using the Heals Blyton picnic hamper.

But when the sun does come out, this vintage-style kit will certainly turn heads in the open country. Designed for two people, it offers that red tin shell with a removable willow tray, along with a selection of suitable accessories – two ceramic mugs, two ceramic plates, two knife and fork sets, two embroidered cotton napkins, salt and pepper cruets, 1a mini insulated flask, a cotton plate bag and a cotton cutlery bag.

You can see that in more detail over the page and if you want one, Heals sells it online – £85 is the price.

Red Phonebox lantern at Urban Outfitters

Phone_lantern

You don't see many red phoneboxes around these days, but you can pick one up for your home – specifically with the Red Phonebox lantern, which is new to Urban Outfitters.

The retailer doesn't have a lot to say about it on its site. Indeed, it has no words at all, but with the aid of a few pictures, we get the idea that you open the door, drop in a candle, then hang it or stand it where you like and watch the light shine out. Of course, it's a nice novelty thing to have on your sideboard even when you're out of candles.

Price? That'll be £22.

1970s-style Loop mirror by Nazanin Kamali for Case

Kamali

There's curves offer up a distinctly 1970s look, but the Loop mirror by Nazanin Kamali for Case is actually a very modern affair.

It's also quite a clever thing too – that squared-off oval frame hosting a long portrait-style mirror and a shelf, which makes it perfect for holding all your essential bits and pieces.

It looks like plastic, but that frame is actually formed birch ply, with an oak veneer finish, which, combined with the designer name, probably accounts for the £329 price tag.

Ikea’s vintage-style Dekad alarm clock

Dekad

When you've done the full Ikea tour and you exit via the general store, there's every chance you'll see the Dekad alarm clock piled high somewhere.

It's classic Ikea – small, cheap, useful and just a little bit distinctive. In this case, that distinction comes from looking like something pulled from the first half of the 20th century. The functionality isn't far off that either, although battery power has replaced several winds for power. Aside from that, if offers the time and gets you out of bed with a hammer of those bells. Job done really.

Price? A very tempting £3.99.

Becky Broome kitchen textiles

Becky broome

Becky Broome creates unusual kitchen textiles based on the family ephemera that most of us would throw away. For example, the tea towel shown here uses an old Co-Op book that's been digitally printed onto cotton, overlaid with her own design. Other pieces use things like long disregarded Post Office saving books or reports.

Her designs cover everything from oven gloves and aprons to tea cosies (though not the the kitchen sink, yet) and all have a similar aesthetic.

And each item is reasonably priced too: this tea towel is £14.99.

But most importantly, designs that are still eye-catching and interesting today.

The William Morris Fruit pattern above is just one example and like all in the range, is made to order and comes in a width of 52cm and a length of 10.5m. Each roll retails for £45.
