Ink Blot Plates from Luna & Curious

300

Inspired by the Rorschach psychological tests, popular in the 1960's, these Ink Blot Plates from Luna & Curious will reveal your dinner guests' innermost secrets.

In the original tests, a subject was shown various indistinct ink blots and asked to describe what they saw. Their interpretations of the images were used to draw conclusions about their personality and emotional state. Taking her inspiration from the test, designer Kaoru Parry has created  four different designs: "Fox", "Rabbit", "Horse" and "Butterfly". They are made of bone china and hand painted in genuine 22 carat gold.

The plates cost £20 each and you can buy them from Luna & Curious here.

50s-style printed scarves from Tate

Tate scarves
New in at the Tate Museum shop are these 50s-style printed scarves.

They've been produced to accompany the current Miro exhibition at Tate Modern. Miro's art influenced the designs of Lucienne Day, amongst many others, so it's hardly surprising that these scarves nod towards her work. Made from 100% linen, they are decorated with a pattern that uses the sketchy, skeletal forms so associated with 50s designs.

Available in three colours, the scarves cost £45 each.

Fonteyn midcentury-style desk by Steuart Padwick for Made.com

Font

Regular readers might recall that we recently featured the Fonteyn dressing table, which was available at Made.com. Well, that same site has a variation on the theme in the form of this Fonteyn desk by Steuart Padwick.

Another exclusive to the online design site, it's one of the coolest desks we've seen for a long time. Taking the midcentury era for inspiration, the Fonteyn desk is made of oak and walnut, with those tapered legs mixing it with the curved of the actual desk, finished off with a couple of drawers and a clear lacquer to show off the grain of the wood. Perfect for letter writing or a laptop we think.

The full price is £1,100, but as ever, if you order within the limited period at Made.com, you get get it for much, much less. How much? £279 if you order in the next six days.
