London Underground Film Map Collection

4771_1432_240_240_FFFFFF_0
The London Underground map is an accepted design classic in its own right, but its reinterpretation for the London Underground Film Map Collection, gives it a different spin.

Here the station names have been replaced mainly with the names of films which have been filmed near that station in the past 70 years. Other stations have been renamed with actors, directors or television shows with local connections. The design is available on various products including mugs, t-shirts and placemats.

Prices range from £4.95 for a travelcard wallet up to £24.95 for a set of placemats.  See the whole collection online at the London Transport Museum shop.

Bandeau High Waisted Bikini by Chloé

Chloebandeau

It might seem strange to be looking at Summer fashion fodder already, but the big names are already bringing us swimwear and summer looks in their droves. Thankfully this gives us a bit of a preview of the retro influences to come, with pieces likes this Bandeau and High-Waisted Bikini by Chloé.

The combination of a risque top and full retro bottom gives this piece an interesting retro look, offering something different from the many pin-up styled swimwear options we've recently seen. The effortless glamour of the set, achieved by a chic cut and subtle detailing, speaks of a truly seventies decadence that's hard to resist.

It's available online in the UK from Net-a-Porter for £235.

Spats-Inpired Shoes by Qube

Qubespats

Brogues have been seen everywhere across mainstream footwear retailers for a few seasons now, which can only mean it's time for the high street to try something new in retro shoes. These spats-inspired Two Tone Shoes by Qube are a quirky and cool pair with evident vintage inspiration.

Taking an earlier menswear trend and adapting it for women's fashion, the idea behind these has a real sixties sensibility. The end result, with a monochrome palette and clean, sharp lines, has instant retro impact that you'll wear again and again.

We showed you the Sean Sims limited edition alphabet print last year. Now the letters are available individually, as the Play Time card range

Executed in an early 70s-style, each card is based around a different letter: from the brightly patterned 'K' for 'Kettle' to the monster towering over the metropolis for 'M', or the old-fashioned gent clutching an umbrella for 'U'.

Ideal as birthday cards for kids or for adults who haven't quite grown-up yet, the cards cost £2 each.

Amelia
A contemporary chair that's available on the high street but this Amelia Chair from Next definitely looks to the past for its influence.

The curvy back of the chair, padded seat and gently splayed feet give this chair something of a feminine 1950s look. You can choose between dark or light wood for its feet and from a wide range of upholstery fabric. Select the zebra print for a bold statement, or go with some of the more delicate patterns for a prettier feel.

Prices range from £225 to £275, depending on your choice of finishes.
