Phil1

Regular readers will know that we love a vintage record player, so here's not one, but two players from the same seller – the Philips 423 folding record player and the Philips 210 portable record player, both of which are  on eBay right now.

The first of these is pictured above, the 1970s 423, which packs away into a stylish little case, but opens out to play with batteries or mains, with 33/45/79 speeds, volume and tone controls plus the speaker in the case. Condition is described as 'used but very good' and the price right now is £8.50.

You can see the full item details right here or check out another player below.

1950’s Child’s Carousel Car

Carousel_car_596_2_3
This incredible Child's Carousel Car is a fantastic piece of fairground memorabilia from antique salvage site Elemental.

It's Italian in origin and dates from 1950, embodying all of the typical style characteristics of the era; classic fins, bubble windscreens front and rear and colourful atomic-style paintwork with great chrome detailing.

It seats four and measures 1.8 metres long, so it's a pretty substantial little vehicle.

It's currently in the sale, down from £4300 to £2800 – you can admire it from multiple angles and purchase it here.

Belle & Boo Valentines Cards

02J0URNEY_VALCARD-252x356
We’ve featured Belle & Boo’s vintage-style children’s illustrations before, so we were delighted to see that they have produced a range of Valentine’s Day Cards.

Like the illustrations, the Belle & Boo Valentine’s Cards feature nostalgic drawings in muted colours, of a little boy and girl cuddling, kissing or holding hands in various settings. The designs have an innocent charm to them, which makes a change from most Valentines cards.

The cards cost £2 each from NineteenSeventyThree.

Moustache Corkscrew

5533421851004_Black_m1
New in at Urban Outfitters is this Handlebar Moustache Corkscrew.

The handle of the corkscrew is a black moustache, whose curling ends double as a bottle open. The design surely must take its inspiration from the famous moustache of Salvador Dali and I feel certain that he would approve of the surreal fun nature of this item.

Buy it online from Urban Outfitters, priced £14.

Slash Neck Dress from ASOS

Slashneckdress

While the 1960s was all about sharp tailoring and structure, it was the seventies that saw a boost in creative draping and full fabrics from designers like Halston and the disco era looks. That was a trend that carried well into the 1980s, with looks much like this Slash Neck Dress from ASOS proving ever popular.

The use of stretch knitted fabric allows for seventies style draping in the batwing top to be perfectly counterbalanced by the sexier eighties sensibilities of the tight skirt and sleeves. The result is a dress that's vampish and glamorous, without being garish or clichéd. The colour options finish off the eighties feel, in dark coral pink and power blue.

Mustard Contrast Satchel from Topshop

Mustardsatchel

For an instant shot of sixties looks, a well chosen colour palette can often be key. This Mustard Contrast Satchel from Topshop uses a great pairing of vintage shades in a leather look bag that has plenty of retro appeal.

The tapered, sloping sides add a sixties look to the classic satchel, creating a shape that has all the sharp and angular appeal of the decade's aesthetic. The use of mustard and rich brown faux leather together adds to the impact of a design that's instantly recognisable as a nod to timeless vintage looks.

It's available now from Topshop for £32.
