eBay watch: 1960s Morecambe and Wise That Riviera Touch movie poster

Riv

Once upon a time, movie posters were cheap and plentiful on eBay, with cult classics being available for £10 or less just about every day. But a few years on and most auctions are 'buy it now' and well into three figures. So this 1960s Morecambe and Wise That Riviera Touch movie poster is something of a rarity.

it's an original UK quad poster (30 x 40 inches), dating from 1966 and featuring that great cartoon graphic of (arguably) Britain's finest comedy double act. According to the seller, it's in 'mint' condition, with no marks or rips and just as importantly, no fading.

Right now, bidding is at £40.

New 80s-inspired Commodore 64 PC gets detailed – called C64x

C64_1

We first saw this back in August, with the reissued Commodore 64 mixing authentic 80s-style looks with a modern specification. Well, it's now got a new name, the C64x, as well as some official photos and a confirmed set of features, including the option to revert to an '80s machine.

According to Wired, the new version has a dual-core Atom processor, 2GB memory, NVIDIA Ion2 graphics and a Blu-ray drive. There's also lots of USB and memory card slots, along with HDMI, VGA and DVI-D ports. But there's also some added authenticity.

Milton High Chair

BMI452
The Milton High Chair is a classic conference chair, designed by Bruno Mathsson.

It was designed in 1980, making it 30 years old, although it could easily pass for being of an older vintage. Not cheap by any standard at £1,556 for a fabric finish or £2,264 in leather, but if the rest of your world is beautifully furnished, then your office should be too.

0dfc89e901a0f7aa6d7b7b089cbfbbdebb7e4bc0
Described as a Polish Chair, this unusual armchair is available to buy from the My Deco Boutique.

It is a product of 1960s Poland, from the manufacturer Slupskie Fabryskie Mebli, a name I’ve not come across before. This particular chair has been given a sympathetic update, re-upholstered with a fabric befitting its origins, and its wooden arms and legs finished in a dark stain.

The chair costs £650 from My Deco.

1970s Nike Cortez trainers return in sky blue nylon

Nike

Nike is all too often overshadowed by other trainer labels on these pages (usually for good reason). But we do love the latest reissue of the classic Nike Cortez trainers.

A lightweight shoe that dates back to 1972 under the original name of the Tiger Corsair, it now gets a back to basics reissue in a light nylon finish and in a sky blue with white details. But there;s still room for the contrast jagged sole, round toe piece and trademark 'swoosh'.

Available on pre-order now, £50 is the price you'll need to pay.

Newgate’s Mondaine-style Metropolitan clock

Metropolitan

Another great retro clock from Newgate is hardly a surprise. However, this Metropolitan clock looks like its been influenced by another design classic: the distinctive Mondaine clock.

The Mondaine clock dates from the 1940s and was designed for the railways to be easily read from distance. This new design takes on some of that readability in that it uses the chunky block divisions around the dial and has the same clarity of design. A crucial difference though is in the clock's hands – the Mondaine relies on a red hand to mark the seconds, in the case of the Metropolitan it's just a red hour and minute hand.

The Metropolitan clock is also bigger at 60cm across and, crucially, is also cheaper. Not by masses though. While you can buy an official Mondaine clock for around £230, this design costs £190.
