Green Space beach towel by Ben de Lisi at Debenhams

Ben de Lisi beach towel

It's not really the weather to be heading to the beach though if you're lucky enough to be heading off to catch some sun abroad season or just want a retro look to fit in with the rest of your home, you may fancy this Green Space beach towel, part of Ben de Lisi's range at Debenhams.

Like the rest of the range, which includes the Blocks mug featured at end of last year, it's got a distinctively 1950s feel. In fact, looking at its graphic design, if it wasn't a towel you could almost hang on your wall as a piece of art!

Even better news is that the towel is currently reduced to £9.60.

John Lennon-inspired Nowhere Boy gets DVD and Blu-ray release

Nowhere

The critically acclaimed directorial debut of Sam Taylor-Wood gets a DVD and Blu-ray release in a matter of weeks – Nowhere Boy.

As you probably know, it's the film of John Lennon's teenage years in 50s Liverpool, from first band The Quarrymen to his early relationship with Paul McCartney and George Harrison, all of which culminates in the formation of The Beatles and their historic trip to Hamburg. Aaron Johnson takes the lead role, with support roles for Kristin Scott Thomas as Aunt Mimi and Anne Marie Duff as Lennon’s mother Julia.

Plenty of extras too, including a director's Commentary with Sam Taylor-Wood, a Lennon’s Liverpool featurette, the re-creation of Lennon and the Quarrymen featurette, Anatomy of the scene: 'That’s When I Stole Him' featurette, an extended interview with Sam Taylor-Wood and three deleted scenes, introduced by the director. May 10th 2010 is the shelf date, but you can pre-order now from just over £10.

John Lewis 1950s-style Swing Chair

Lewis_chair1

A modern design with a nod to a bygone age – the John Lewis Swing Chair.

Perfect for that 1950s vibe, the swing Chair has plenty of curves, no arms, but plenty of comfort from the substantial front and back cushioning, which is attached to a screwed wooden frame. Digging those  splayed, beech stained dark wood legs too.

Two colour options available for that Harlequin Pasha upholstery, with the price of each one at £799. See a side view of the chair over the page.
