Silk-Satin V-Neck Gown from Halston Heritage

Halstonheritage

The Halston brand is one of few that has been awarded a firm place in the history of American fashion, making its name in the 1970s for its glamour and luxury. With fans like Bianca Jagger and Anjelica Huston in its infancy, there's plenty of reasons for retro lovers to take inspiration from their designs.

The design house has made it easy to copy the style with their Heritage line, taking original pieces and giving them a modern remake. This Silk-Satin V-Neck Gown retains all of the 1970s chic that made the brand famous, with luxurious fabrics and a flowing cut that would fit right into Studio 54's heyday.

It's available online from Net-a-Porter now for £525.

Adidas Originals Adicolor retro-styled holdall

Adi1

Possibly something of a throwback to your schooldays with the Adidas Originals Adicolor holdall.

Yes, a big chunky holdall, the kind of thing that was popular on the schoolyard in the 80s and stays useful today for anything from the gym to a night away with that hefty capacity. That white on black colour scheme is particularly stylish (especially with the Adidas and Trefoil detailing), while the polyurethane construction should make it useful in all weather.

£55 will secure you one. Another angled image is over the page.

Retro childhood poem tea towel

Childhood-poem-tea-towel

If your childhood memories date to slightly further back than the characters featured in the Saturday Mornings in the 80s paper cut, this retro childhood poem tea towel may be more to your taste.

Drawing on memories of the 1970s, it shows a poem which waxes lyrical about some of the childhood delights from that decade: pogo sticks and space hoppers, black jacks and fruit salad sweets, the Beano and Jackie magazines and so on. The nostalgia fest is topped off with an image of the 70s favourite bike – the chopper.

This trip down memory lane costs just £6.

Saturday Mornings in the 80s paper cut

Cut Out Paper 80s

Most paper cuts seem to focus on folk and whimsical imagery so this piece, titled Saturday Mornings in the 80s, makes a nice change. Full of weird and wonderful shapes, look at bit closer and you realise its made of the silhouettes of some of the Eighties best known TV characters ranging from He-Man and She-Ra to Postman Pat and Rainbow Brite.

The piece is limited to twenty and is made by laser cutting, based on a hand-drawing. It's the work of London based company Cut Out Paper who also sell a cut based on classic twentieth-century chairs, should your taste be slightly less nostalgic.

It sells for £75 unframed or £130 framed. You can contact them to order through their website or go through their Etsy store.

Piet Hein 1930s Ra pendant lamp

Ra

A modernist classic that's almost 80 years old, yet the Piet Hein Ra pendant lamp still has some cutting edge looks.

One of Hein's first designs, it was initiated back in 1931 and still exudes that modernist charm. Indeed, this reissue is based on those original drawings, but in new materials and new, bolder colours like the red above. Clever too – with the bulb actually covered, it doesn't glare, rather it 'illuminates' the room with a warm glow.

If you want to brighten up your living room for one, the Ra pendant lamp sells for £529.
