Long Belted Coat from F&F at Tesco

Ffcoat

While it can be hard to resist a luxe designer coat done well, sometimes the simplest outerwear items are the hardest to track down. Thankfully, they're often the best choice for retro wardrobes, too, making this simple mac from F&F at Tesco ideal.

The Long Belted Coat comes in a timeless light camel shade, with classic structure and cut doing all the talking. Made from a soft, light wool blend fabric, this coat is one you can wear most of the year and it will go with almost anything. The wide lapels, high waist and knee length give this a sixties feel, but it can easily be dressed for any classic vintage ode. With Tesco upping the quality and attention to detail on their clothing ranges, this is an item not to be sniffed at.

Available now from Tesco online or in larger stores, it costs £45.

Silk Bow Front Blouse by Lyell

Lyella

Retro workwear has taken off in a big way since Mad Men hit our screens, meaning that suiting and all the trimmings don't have to be confined to the daily grind any longer. This Silk Bow Front Blouse by Lyell is a great choice for a vintage inspired look that's office inspired, but with enough daring to be ideal for evenings.

With a pussybow at the neckline, the high collar can be fastened to create a buttoned-up sixties look, or left loose for versatility. Loose chiffon silk compliments the masculine shirt-shape, while the choice of polka dot or a ditsy print offer two different angles on what could become a staple item for retro wardrobes.

Get it online from Urban Outfitters for £45, made from 100% silk.

Sylvie Coquet Art Deco-style tea set

Coquet tea

This tea set, designed by Sylvie Coquet for Couture lab, offers an extremely luxurious way to serve a cuppa – with added Art Deco style too.

The hand-made set includes four cups and saucers and a serving pot. A metallic glaze has been used on the pot and the saucers and those elegant handles are gold plated.

It looks pretty expensive and it is expensive too: the set costs £593. Perhaps not one for everyday use then…

Mid-century modern furniture series by Eric Rewitzer

Rewitzer chairs

The classic looks of a mid-century chair seems to inspire a steady stream of artists. This modern furniture series by Eric Rewitzer is perfect for seating lovers who may have spent the majority of their money on an Egg chair, as the prints cost just $25 each.

There are ten lino prints in total, each measuring 6 x 8 inches. As well as including Finn Juhl's Chieftain chair and Nelson's Marshmallow sofa, as shown in the images, there's also the Egg chair and all the regular Eames, Saarinen and van der Rohe numbers you'd expect in a series like this. Each design has been produced in a limited edition of 100.

As well as the reasonable individual price, you can get all ten prints for $200: a mere fraction of the price you'd pay for the real thing.

Lego CD Stereo Boombox and Radio Alarm Clock unveiled

Lego_boom1

We're not easily impressed, but we've certainly had our heads turned by the launch of the Lego CD Stereo Boombox and the Lego Radio Alarm Clock. You can probably see why.

Pictured above is the bright blue CD Stereo Boombox, shaped like a large brick and offering up CD and MP3 playback, along with FM and AM radio. Sadly no DAB or net radio, but you can't have everything.

Pictured over the page is the smaller Radio Alarm Clock, offering up what you expect – a radio to get you out of bed and a digital clock to tell you the time. Oh yes – a snooze function too by hitting the Lego bump on top. No news on price as yet, but not long to wait – these should both be on the market in a matter of weeks and we suspect, without breaking the bank.
