Bruno Munari was responsible for some of the most delightful children’s books ever published but his work covered a range of fields including painting, design and photography.

This title “Munari’s Books” by Giorio Maffei looks at Munari’s legacy in print, covering his work as a graphic designer, his collaboration with major publishers and his innovative projects. The book looks at his work in chronological order, but also includes critical essays and a wealth of colour illustrations.

It is a serious work, and has a price tag to match, costing £37.99 from Magma.

Are you ready for a story? Well, here goes. Ray Eames picked up one of the original Marilyn Neuhart Dolls and fell in love with it. Shen then asked Marilyn Neuhart to make one for Alexander Girard, who was equally smitten. In fact, he was so taken by the dolls, he asked Marilyn to make 100 for the 1961 opening of his Textile & Objects store, becoming an icon of the store and era. Now, you can have one made for your home.

Yes, almost 50 years on, House Industries has asked Marilyn to create four new designs in the same style as the originals – and she has duly obliged. So take your pick from the characters above, all handmade in the US using the same Mexican cotton from the same family-owned mill that was used for the originals.

Something of a future collectable and quite simply, just a nice thing to own. Depending on your choice of doll, prices start at $75.

We love the quirky illustrations of Jim Flora, indeed we've featured the art reissues of his album sleeves in the past. But now there's a batch of original mid-60s art available once more, which you can pick up in limited numbers from the official Jim Flora site.

Take your pick from what's there, but we particularly like The Big Bank Robbery, a stunning bit of period artwork that's both eyecatching and fun, guaranteed to liven up even the dullest of rooms.

Robot storage

Tidying never looked so appealing as when it offered the opportunity to play with this cool Robot cabinet from Swedish company Barnvanligt. Their website is crammed full of great designs for kids. 

Though they do deliver within the EU, their website is all in Swedish. Nevertheless, armed with Google language tools, I've managed to work out that it's made from white lacquer MDF (though a light blue option is also available) and contains three separate sections, each with their own door. Fantastically, the arms are also adjustable. The obvious place for this little creature is a kid's bedroom but as it's so appealing, I quite fancy it for myself!
