Well Considered collection at the Conran Shop

Oliver

Retro looks to be a significant part of the new Well Considered collection at the Conran Shop.

The Well Considered range is a recession-friendly selection of design and homeware, a range that's set to be ongoing at the Conran Shop, with new designs added to it each season – and all for prices that are said to be in line with John Lewis or Habitat. So not exactly budget, but certainly affordable – and all with 50s-style Javier Mariscal packaging as an added bonus.

The Daily Telegraph has a preview of the collection, which isn't due in the stores (and online) until August 18th, but this 1930s-style Oliver armchair (above) caught our eye, perfect for a post of reading after a long day at work. The price for that? Around £895.

Dwell’s 70s-style Cutout coffee table

Dwell1

We're big fans of Dwell, who same able to knock some very hip, retro-styled design that doesn't cost a small fortune, even if some of the pieces run very close in looks to some high-end originals. Saying that, we don't think the Dwell Cutout coffee table is a take on anything in particular – it's just a modern-day slice of the 1970s.

Available in black or white (you can check out a picture of the white version over the page), the coffe table has that 'Cutout' shape for mixing support and storage, a lacquered frame and tempered mirrored glass top.

The whole thing stands around 37cm high and has a diameter of 90cm, selling for £299 when it lands instore – which is 19th August 2009. Or you can order online now in advance.

Ella Doran Routemaster coasters

Routemaster coasters

Though decommissioned in 2005, the Routemaster remains one an iconic symbol of London. Transport for London have recognised this and asked Ella Doran to create a range of products around the bus, including this set of four Routemaster coasters

For those who travelled on the bus, the images of the bell and the mirror featured on two of the coasters will be familiar sites and the third shows a close-up of the old logo of route 38, illustratrating why it was known as the 'love bus'. The last coaster features a montage of all these shots with several others. Transport enthusiasts may be pleased to hear that, at £13.70 for the set, they cost 10p less than a current weekly London bus pass.

Ferm Living Feather Wallpaper

Ferm-living-Feather-wallpaper

We have featured products by Danish company Ferm Living in the past and I doubt that the Feather Wallpaper will be the last.

The Feather Wallpaper features a bold feather print in white against a distinctive petrol blue background. It is a real statement design, but the wallpaper is also a “wall smart” product that has been designed for quicker, easier hanging, which is always a bonus.

The wallpaper is available from Stylish Life for £53 per roll.
