Original 1960s Poetry Posters

Poetryposters

H is for Home currently has a small selection of original Sixties Poetry Posters for sale.

Designed by Lucia Pearce, the posters were printed by Looart Press of Colorado Springs in the 1960s. Pearce was an artist involved in the protest movement in America who also worked for a time for Eames. The posters incorporate words and poetry by influential figures on the counterculture such as Lord Buckley and Khalil Gibran into Pearce’s flower power designs.

There are four posters available, measuring approximately 53cm x 76cm and costing £60. Visit H is for Home to buy.

Bus Lamp by Daniel Fosbury

BuslampLondon Transport Museum has come up with some ingeneous designs based on its vehicles and trains.

The Bus Lamp, designed by Daniel Fosbury, takes its inspiration from the little red bell you push in order to get the bus to stop. Utilising components taken from buses, he has created this striking lamp with the red button at the centre of a yellow pole stand.

The lamp costs just under £60 and can be purchased from the London Transport Museum shop.

Poufman – Pac-Man seating for your home

Poufman

Seating really doesn’t get much quirkier than Poufman from Qayot.

Yes, this is Pac-Man seating, the actual seat eating the square stool in just about any colour combination you require. Each unit has wooden support and  polyurethane padding, covered by a fabric and polyester cover that’s both stain-resistant and removable.

In fact, the only thing the detailed website doesn’t tell us is the price – apparently that’s ‘on request’.

B&Q’s mid-century Audrey String table lamp

Audrey

Not (as you might think), a classic piece from the late 50s or early 60s, this is the Audrey String table lamp, available from your local B&Q.

But to the untrained eye, this could easily pass as a typical piece of mid-century design. Those tripod-like legs hold a lamp crafted from mild steel and string, with a contrasting inner and outer colour of light and dark brown. And you can even fit an energy-saving bulb in it.

But best of all, this is B&Q, so it’s cheap – £39.98 to be precise.

Vans X Kiss Sk8-Hi shoe – 70s skate shoes for 70s rock fans

Kiss_vans
Rock legends Kiss released solo albums from each band member on September 18th 1978 – and in that same year, Vans launched the Sk8-Hi shoe. So it seems sensible to release a collaboration to celebrate the 30th anniversary – the Vans X Kiss Sk8-Hi shoe.

The release of the four solo albums was the first (and possibly only) time that a band has released solo albums on the same day – and the covers of those albums, with each member in full make-up, is the design on the new Sk8-Hi shoe.

Strictly for fans of both shoe and group I’d guess, you can pick up a pair in the coming weeks for an as-yet undisclosed price.
