Peter Blake I Love You silkscreen print

Blake_iloveyou
Prints are often a sound investment, especially when it’s the work of Sir Peter Blake – as is the case with the I Love You silkscreen print, available now from CCA Galleries.

Based on Blake’s pop art work from the early 60s, the print is bright and bold and limited to just 175 worldwide (the first 25 are already spoken for, but you can request any of the other numbers – stock permitting).

For authenticity, the 595 x 820mm print has CCA’s publisher stamp embossed in bottom right hand corner and a certificate of authenticity – but not the gallery’s website url as seen on the one here. Unframed, it will cost £795.

Arper Leaf Chairs

Leaf_loungechair_500

Although just released in 2005, the Leaf range of seating from Italian manufacturer Arper has a definitive retro look to it and wouldn’t be out of place in a 1960s or 1970s home.

The collection takes its inspiration (and its name) from nature, using steel to create an ergonomic and organic shape. Pictured here is the lounge chair but there is also another style of chair and a chaise longue in the range. Each is available in chrome, white or the more retro shades of green or mocha.  As they are made fo steel, they are suitable for outdoor use, although the chairs would look just as good indoors.

Prices range from £249 for the chair, £420 for the lounge chair and £1226 for the chaise longue from TwentyTwentyOne

Knock Off Bowling Pin Lamp

Knock

Alongside diners, bowling always makes me think of 1950s America, and whilst diner style products are pretty common, its harder to incorporate bowling alley style into your home. But then I came across the “Knock Off” Lamp by industrial designer, Josh Owen.

It is shaped like a bowling pin lamp and as the name suggests, it turns off when it is knocked over. It measures 15” in height and is made of white PP plastic.

It costs $26 (approximately £13) from Greener Grass Design.

Timex goes retro with newly-launched Timex 80 digital watch

Timex_80

Timex has been around since the 1950s – in fact, by the end of the 50s, one in three watches bought in the US was a Timex. And the company is still making them, including the distinctly retro Timex 80.

Take your pick from blue, yellow, white, pink, black, orange or army green or if you want to go slightly more high-end (and much more 80s), you can also pick up a metallic version in silver and gold.

All pack basic digital functionality and come in an 80s-style box, selling for 45 Euros (plastic) or 55 Euros (metal) at Colette. If you want to wait for a UK distributor, Oki-Ni will be selling them from July.
